Speedy deletion of See Chicago

[edit]

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TrulyBlue (talk) 15:33, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with See Chicago. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. TrulyBlue (talk) 15:53, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Lincoln Park, Chicago do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Kevin Forsyth (talk) 16:39, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. —Jeremy (talk) 17:34, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Logan Square, Chicago. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. —Jeremy (talk) 17:42, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SeeChicago

[edit]

Hi Kevin,

You ask: SeeChicago is the most comprehensive video content of Chicago is there a way it can be added to Wikipedia. It should be addded for its content alone, how can this work it self out?

If the copyright holder of the video content has (or is prepared to) licensed it under one of our acceptable free licenses (see here) and they can be converted into a non-proprietary format, you can upload the videos to our media repository, the Wikimedia Commons, so that we can use them in articles. Otherwise, I'm afraid that you are in the wrong place as Wikipedia should not be used for the promotion of other websites. Thanks, —Jeremy (talk) 20:30, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As an addendum to the above. I have now watched a few of the videos on this website and I disagree with you that this content should be added to Wikipedia. The tone of the videos is extremely promotional and is therefore inappropriate for encyclopedia articles that are required to maintain a neutral point of view regarding their subjects. —Jeremy (talk) 22:08, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
