AFD/Colorado balloon incident

[edit]

You wrote: Much of what is added is currently in the news. Yet many editors feel like wikipedia should be like the archaic encyclopedia's, and wait wait wait to publish anything "new".

Some things that are news are enduring, like the discovery of a new species or the election of a new national leader.

Other things are less enduring, like this morning's traffic jam, which was "all over the news" and on web pages accessible all over the planet.

It's way too soon to tell if this incident will be "enduring" or a merely one of today's news stories.

If we continue to see reports about this in a few weeks, or it is mentioned in year-end news wrap-ups, or if it leads to changes in law or public policy, then it's probably wiki-notable. Otherwise, probably not. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 22:36, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
