[edit]This is your only warning; if you insert a spam link to Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Request reason:
Hello. I see that I have been blocked from making further contributions to Wikipedia because of my edits being classified as promotion. Firstly, I'd like to acknowledge that I understand that adding externals links to a bunch of Wikipedia pages in a go is an act of promotion. However, I would like to state my reason for doing so, and leave it to your discretion to re-add my changes or delete them. Regardless of which one you choose, I will not make similar changes to Wikipedia hereafter. Here's my reason: All the changes I made, were to pages directly related to a National or International Science Olympiad. I participated in these olympiads back in 2009 and 2010, and know a lot of people affiliated with the same. http://stats.ioinformatics.org/people/1246 . Almost all the people visiting these pages are high school students, and the most useful information they are looking for is (a) how to register for the contest (b) other people they can talk to who are competing in the contest and (c) someone to answer their questions and queries. A wikipedia page can provide (a), but there is no way for them to get (b) or (c) apart from externals links. As such, you will often see links to Facebook groups at the bottom on National and International Science Olympiad pages. My goal was to provide (b) and (c). Just to re-iterate, I leave it to your discretion to re-add my edits, and regardless of your decision, I confirm that I will not make any further external link edits to Wikipedia. Thanks.
Decline reason:
Declined due to lack of response to the below query. Please feel free to post a new unblock request answering Peridon's question. ~ Rob13Talk 04:37, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Wikipedia isn't a 'how-to' sort of place. It's for information about things (and people etc), not for how to register, finding people to talk to, or for getting answers to queries. Those things can be done on the event's own website. Or any other page that is set up for that purpose. However, Wikipedia is not here as a collection of links. Even some of the top museums and galleries have had accounts blocked for adding links to themselves. What sort of editing would you do if unblocked, as I feel sure that you won't be unblocked to redo your previous edits? Please note that I am not implying that you had any evil intents - just that what you did was through not knowing that links to community pages or places like Facebook aren't what we're about. Thanks for your review. I understand the policies clearly now. I won't be adding further external links. I'd like to edit pages related to [Deep Learning] and [International Science Olympiad]. For Deep Learning, some of the pages have very good information about when a model was introduced, who introduced it, and so on. But its missing for some of the more recent models. For International Science Olympiads, the more popular ones have tables with people who have won the most medals, but the others don't. I'd like to create some of those tables for other olympiads. P.S.: Sorry for the late response. I log-in to Wikipedia only once a month or so.

I've unblocked your account. Please don't add any more external links. PhilKnight (talk) 22:07, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
@MER-C:- would you object to an unblock? PhilKnight (talk) 23:59, 19 February 2017 (UTC)
- Not really. MER-C 02:25, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. I understand. - Keshav
