Articles for Consideration
[edit]My first article is [[1]], which is called "Economic Migrant". This article interests me because I am currently learning about economic migrants in my Macroeconomics course at Bucknell. Not only is this interesting to me (Econ is my major), but there is much to be written about the topic. As of recently, Europe has had a significant issue regarding migration. Migrants and refugees are fleeing Syria with the hopes of moving to better conditions in Sweden, Germany, and other stable countries. Considering my enthusiasm toward the topic and its current impact on the world, I think that I could contribute significantly to this Wikipedia page.
My second article for consideration is [[2]]. This article in on education in the Dominican Republic. I am interested in this article because I wish to pursue economics to study the economics of education. I would like to further investigate the educational system in the Dominican Republic: literacy rates, college attendance, etc. This article is something that I could write about with great interest. I also believe that I will be able to access a good deal of information about the Dominican Republic to support my research on its educational system.
My third article is [[3]] is an article on "underground education". I stumbled upon this stub article and it sparked my interest. Underground education is, as one could imagine, the act of clandestine teaching. Examples of this are during time of slavery in the United States as well as during religious persecution in Nazi Germany. This article only has a few sentences written, and I believe that there is much to write about it. During almost any time of war, persecution, or oppression, education took place in secret. I believe that there will be enough information on this topic for me to write a considerable amount on its page.
Final Article Selection
[edit]My final article is [[4]], "Economic Migrant". I think that in the recent turn of events in the European Union, it is fitting that this page has more information on it. I hope to research past instances of mass economic migration as well as the current crisis in Europe. I would also like to include information about what categorizes an economic migrant, and potential economic hardships that cause economic migrants. I think that there is much to be written about this topic, as well as different nation's views on economic migration, past acceptances of economic migrants, etc.
