Welcome

[edit]

Hello Kerojack, and welcome to Wikipedia! The first thing you should know is that we encourage you to be bold. Feel free to edit and improve articles, by clicking any 'edit' link.

If you'd like to test what Wikipedia can do, check out the sandbox - just type and save the page and your text will appear. That's the beauty of a Wiki.

For more information check out our tutorial - it's designed with newcomers in mind, as is the help section. If you'd like to get involved with current projects, have a look at the Community Portal. There are always tasks for users to do, ranging from copyediting to expanding stubs.

I hope you'll enjoy your time here, but be warned, it can become addictive! Feel free to message me, I'm more than happy to help. As an added tip, sign any message you post so users know that you've said it. To do so is delightfully simple, just use the wikicode ~~~~.

Once again, welcome!

I know there are certain types, though I'm not certain if they're what you're looking for. You may want to check this site ([1]). Michael 08:14, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's good. If you have any other questions in the future, feel free to ask. :) Michael 08:43, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

You should actually include your sources in the article, immediately following punctuation at the end of a sentence. Such may be done by pasting the link between two brackets (i.e. [insert here]), which will make the link accessible. Michael 19:37, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just added your citation to that article's text. Michael 19:39, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Any time, Kerojack! Michael 02:31, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll look at it right now. Michael 03:48, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean. We tend to prefer official sites, but his is obviously no longer available. When sourcing, we tend to look to reputable sources (not blogs, fan pages, fan sites, unqualified pages, etc.). There appear to be many other pages on Kerouac, so these will have to suffice for right now. I deleted the dysfunctional site from the listing. Michael 03:52, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. We tend to just ensure that the sources we list or use come from credible, reputable sources as opposed to just coming from random websites which may or may not include verifiable or truthful information. Michael 04:46, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New article

[edit]

Hmmm...Looking at your article, there seems to be bit of a problem with the violation of WP:NPOV. We're not allowed to include personal commentary. You also shouldn't sign your articles, and be sure all of your sentences are complete. Just look over this, and I'll get back to you with some more feedback. Michael 05:11, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, actually, there isn't a formal review that's done. Basically, when you make an article, people who might be looking over the new article creations may look at it, and if it's not vandalism, they'll look no further. That's why you'll find some quite unusual "articles" on Wikipedia. As soon as you do those changes, I'll get back to you with a bit more. Michael 05:14, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see you've removed the commentary. Now, what you need to do is add a little more about the plot summary. Write back when you get that done. Michael 03:44, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can also make citations by placing a URL between two brackets [like this]. Michael 07:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Tell me when you get the plot summar written up, and I can tell you what needs to be done next. Michael 03:25, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An award for you...

For all you have done for Wikipedia in the short time you have been here, I award you, Kerojack, the Exceptional Newcomer Award. Michael 06:30, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great - tell me when it's done. Michael 02:47, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Colboard

[edit]

Hi there, I couldn't find a contact on the board so I was wondering, do you know how to activate accounts on there? Tyciol 10:17, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You would message one of the moderators. They can then make a post in the Mod Forum Kerojack, Argenta 01:08, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zango

[edit]

Hi, I removed your Zango edit, I see that they're up to their usual tricks, can you find a mention in mainstream media so this can be included? Cheers, CliffC (talk) 14:38, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zango2

[edit]

Hi Kerojack,

I was just about to partially revert your Zango edit when CliffC beat me to it, and agree with his comment. Also just a couple of little points—please don't mark an edit as minor unless you're sure it could not possibly be controversial (eg vandalism reversion or typo fixing), and please don't sign edits on article pages (only talk or discussion pages).

Anyway, keep up the good work  :-) Adrian J. Hunter(talkcontribs) 14:50, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:32, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
