Cocaine Bear was a bear that ate 40 kilo grams of cocaine also known as " Pablo Esko-Bear ". This took place in 1985 when drug smuggler Andrew C Thorton II jumped off his plane with drugs, money, and weapons but released some cocaine packages due to weight. Cocaine bear was found three months later close by Andrews plane in Chattahooche National Forest in Georgia. The bear was found surrounded by 40 empty packages that had been torn open which all had a trace of cocaine. Then the bear was took to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and cut open for an examination.
Andrew C Thorton II was the reason Cocaine Bear died. Andrew was a lawyer and narcotic officer then had changed his career options to a head member of " The company " a drug ring in Kentucky that was a smuggling ring. Thorton grew up in the upper class life in Lexington, Kentucky. Andrew also went to the army and quit to become a narcotic officer in Lexington, Kentucky. Then later attended University of Kentucky Law school during this timing he started his smuggling. When this incident happened on September 11,1985 Andrew was on a smuggle run from Colombia then he decided to jump from his auto piloted Cessna 404 and dumped 40 packages of cocaine where the black bear had found the cocaine proceeded to open then bags and eating this drug. Andrew also died that day due to him getting caught in his parachute and everything he was carrying and was found in Knoxville, Tennessee. Thorton was found dead with night vision goggles on and also a bullet proof vest on and Gucci loafers on his feet and a green army duffel bag containing approximately 15 million worth of cocaine, 4500$ in cash and knives, two pistols and gold krugerrands.
After the examination there doctor gave it to his anonymous friend who then displayed this bear in the Chattahooche park where he was found. Then there was a wild forest fire and the bear was moved to a storage unit then after two months was stolen from there storage unit. The anonymous person sold it to the pawn shop then passed to R Jennings and he was informed him how it was connected to Andrew C Thorton II and was displayed in Jennings home until 2009 when he passed away. Cocaine bear was up for auction where an older Chinese man named Zue Tang bought it for 200$ and tried to bring it home then his wife disagreed and told him it couldn't go in their home so he then took it to his store to be displayed. In 2012 Zue Tang Died and his wife kept this bear knowing how important it was to her husband. In 2015, a representative from Kentucky for Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky tracked down Mrs.Tang asking if they could buy the bear for their store sue to it being significant to them and also Andrew was from Lexington and spent most of his years in Lexington. Lexington was his home and understood where they were coming from with their point so she agreed as long as they paid for the shipping to get to her and they accepted the offer.
After the black bears examination he was diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhaging, respiratory failure, hyper thermal, renal failure, heart failure and a stroke.
Kentucky for Kentucky displayed this bear in the store as advertisement for buying merchandise and also a background story of the bear. Also this bear has a message attached telling visitors not to do drugs or they will end up the same way.
