Hi Kendanne.

I got your message. To start a conversation at another editors talk page begin by clicking the "new section" tab at the top of the page. The other editor will usually reply there because it is easier to follow conversations that are in one place. You can check under "preferences" that your watchlist is set up to automatically add any page you edit. If you check your watchlist regularly you can see if the other editor has replied.--Charles (talk) 18:40, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Greeting Jethro. I don't really know how to respond to your message. I guess all I can really say is that I respect your opinion. if there is one thing I want to make known is that I LOVE to help people. I find that helping people is something that I enjoy doing. the ONLY reason I have not yet posted any info is because I don't want to give the people something that they won't take a second look at. I mean, I know what my interests are, and I hope you know what yours are. But I want to know what interests OTHER people, and then I can help them learn more. But thank you for your opinion. Hey Kendanne, thanks for following up with me. I'm very glad you want to help people-- we need more folks like that here on Wikipedia with that goal in mind. I do want to clarify that being a host at the Teahouse is not about having information on your userpage about your interests, but more about whether you have some experience editing Wikipedia and can converse with people with respect. (I have no doubts about the latter in your case.) At the time, your contributions suggested to me you were just getting started with editing, so I thought it might be best if you engaged in things like article writing, discussion, and editing policies a little more (not a ton, just enough to get your feet wet). That said, people who are not hosts have answered questions at the Teahouse before; if you are perusing the Q&A page there, and feel like you can answer a question, I encourage you to do so. One other thing I wanted to ask was whether you might be interested in helping at the reference desk? Hey Jethro! thank you for your advice. I would definitely be interested in helping at the the reference desk. one question though: Is the reference desk similar to the Teahouse? Hey Kendall. The reference desk is similar to the Teahouse, but the topics asked has less to do with Wikipedia editing and more to do with general questions folks are interested in...about pretty much anything. Hey Jethro. Question for you. Or a couple questions for you. First off, how do I (I don't know how to say it) get permission to start a discussion? Or be able to get an article approved? And second, what is the best way to request permission? I know I'm probably nagging you and I'm sorry about that. I just want to be sure I do everything that needs to be done in order for me to put together an article draft. Your response is always greatly appreciated, and I'm always up for your opinion. The short answer is you don't need anyone's permission to edit Wikipedia whether it's starting a discussion or writing content. Early on, it's easy to make mistakes here, but I assure you it's OK to make those mistakes and it's not a big deal.
That said, for articles, if you're not sure whether your topic will be acceptable or not the first time you hit "save page," you can create a draft in your userspace where it's more or less private. You can ask for feedback about it while you're writing (you can even ask me, if you want!) Then, you can move it to the article space when you're ready and the article will be made public and searchable. You can also use Articles for creation process to get a more official review where experienced editors give feedback and can approve your article (but it's not necessary to use it if you do not want to).
Also, I wanted to mention this primer that might be useful to you. It discusses a lot of important aspects about writing new articles like notability and finding good references. I, JethroBT drop me a line 20:56, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
