Question about the steel industry

[edit]

Hi Keith,

Would you be so kind and give me advice about a good book to learn about the steel industry? I am working on a financial master thesis, but need to understand the technical differences between companies for my analysis.

Thanks for your effort,

Mentor, Ohio discussion

[edit]

Hello. I appreciate your input to the discussion on the Mentor, Ohio talk page. The topic was added again by the same user - essentially reverted. I reverted the article, and left a second notice on the user's talk page. I am very new to this editing thing. I believe I am following the proper procedures, and being civil about it. At what point does this issue cross the line into what would be considered vandalism?

I also notice that you are part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Ohio townships project. I would be interested in contributing. Do I simply add my name to the Participants list?

I have been making edits to the Munson Twp. article (my home), and am planning on creating an article for Concord Twp. (where I grew up). --KeithB 17:18, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're doing great! I'd say the user's edits do approach vandalism, but we should assume good faith for now. If this continues, however, I will report him/her to WP:AIV. (Of course, you are also welcome to do so if you believe this user has crossed that threshold.) As for the townships, yes, simply add your name to the participants list. I've started articles for townships in neighbouring Portage County; for an example, see Mantua Township, Portage County, Ohio. Feel free to follow links from there into Geauga County to start articles. (I believe Bainbridge Township is also started.) -- SwissCelt 19:48, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the positive feedback (sound like I'm on E-bay <grin>). Another favor to ask. I like the very much the layout of you user page, especially the navbar setup. Would you mind if I shamelessly borrowed your format to give my user page a kick start? I realize that these things are GFDL licensed, but I wanted to be polite and ask. Don't feel bad to say no; maybe it's rude of me to ask. I have no idea about the protocol of this sort of thing on Wikipedia. Thanks. --KeithB 16:58, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
By all means, go ahead. You'll find most of the code at User:SwissCelt/Navbox. -- SwissCelt 18:43, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2CV Info

[edit]

The production figures for the 2CV Sarah are on the 2CV mainpage so you can bitch about it there. (message left by 144.51.27.148 (talk) --KeithB 15:48, 20 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]

So they are. Thanks for pointing this out.
I'm not "bitching". No reason to be uncivil. Perhaps you might leave a short edit summary in the future to note the reason for your edits? --KeithB 15:48, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help please

[edit]

What are you looking for help with? --pgk 18:51, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I seem to be having trouble making edits. I was doing vandalism cleanup using either the popup or rollback tools. Then I tried to revert some vandalism on Maslow's hierarchy of needs using first rollback, then popups, then manually editing, and none of these methods worked. It seems like I have been blocked for some reason? But I haven't been notified if I have, and I can't find my username or IP address in the block list. My IP address is 206.180.172.24. Thank you. --KeithB 19:00, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that you can edit pages (like my talk) other than your own talk page means you certainly aren't blocked. Do you get any error message? It could be that the version you are trying to revert to is actually the same as the current version. For instance User:68.89.202.118 made a number of edits today, but when I compare the before version to the final version there are no differences (here) --pgk 19:06, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK. Perhaps a mistake. Any edits you make go into effect immediately when you press the "Save Page" button. Make sure you first test any edits you make with the "Show Preview" button. So now you know. --KeithB 15:27, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: 141.84.69.20

[edit]

I have been watching this one too, after they went through a removed a whole bunch of needs-attention tags from guitarist articles with no explanation. Do you see any evidence of abuse or disruption? It actually seems to be doing needed tasks, but possibly an unauthorized bot. --Aguerriero (talk) 21:16, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I did see that. I added some more explanation - hopefully they will read it. I did apply a soft block, so they can create accounts. Thanks for the follow up - you're a model Wikipedian! --Aguerriero (talk) 21:37, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This article was tagged with the {{db-nonsense}} tag under suspicious circumstances. It previously had been tagged with the {{notenglish}}. The tag was changed by user 141.84.69.20. The high rate of edits coming from the IP address made it seem almost Bot-like. The edits stopped as soon as I posted a message on the (talk page).

I was actually reverting the article when you deleted it. I have no special attachment to it. If it is deserving of deletion then OK. I just wanted to make you aware of the situation. --KeithB 21:35, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will restore the article for possible translation. Thanks for making the circumstances clear. (aeropagitica) 21:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

3RR doesn't really apply to vandalism or link spam. (The policy's unclear, but I seriously doubt it'd be enforced in this kind of case.) If the user continues, however, I'll block him or her before the situation gets too out of hand. Thanks for the help! -- Merope 17:04, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's okay! There's over 1,000 admins; no need for someone to recognize us all. I recently deleted an article about this website as spam, and my guess is that this is the same user. But it seems to have stopped now. -- Merope 17:25, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Obscenities template

[edit]

Yes, I did change the template a while back for a article that had a picture on there for the shock value. If you look on my talk page, you will see desertofthereal.com (the article was deleted) and find that I used that template against the article because of the shock value picture.Diez2 21:58, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ohio changes

[edit]

The change that I made to the population chart was actually just a repitition of information found within the body text that accompanied the demographic section. However, as requested, I have referenced the source (which can easily be found on the US Census Bureau's website) within the body text. 207.67.33.5 14:50, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changes

[edit]

Hi keith,

I initially wanted to leave a reference, however i deemed it unnecessary due to the fact that his marks are shown in the graphic beside the article (in his report)...So why provide a reference when the reference is within the article itself (a graphic of his report). Also, i could provide a book, which shows his marks, namely "100 years of relativity" by Andrew Robinson.

Thats fine. Being overcautious on wikipedia is no reason to apologise

[edit]

I know what you mean...

I only started editing wikipedia pages recently, and already have come across many vandals. I must admit some of these vandals are hilarious, but ultimately it's sad, considering the efforts that so many honest people put into advancing this wonderful source of (free) knowledge.

I'm a math student at UNSW by the way. What about yourself? My details are on my user page.

Regards,

Peter Ron.

Thanks

Hello,

Sadly, I have no solid sources. I am quite knowledgeable in medieval reconstruction and discussed with several reenactors who told me so, but by that time (in the middle of a fight), I did not asked them source (surely they would not remembered of any). Could it be possible to keep the information, at least on the talk page? Meanwhile, I’ll try to get some informations

Thank you. Certainly, it will ultimately get deleted, but it gives us time to source it. Have a nice day.

Re: Your editor is replacing characters

[edit]

Hmmm... This is weird...

Maybe it's because I use Dillo as my web browser most of the time, and its character-displaying systems do not work very well with foreign characters. Maybe I should use Firefox or similiar for editing.

Thanks for letting me know, I wouldn't have found it otherwise .

I'll make the edits again using Firefox.

Why so many

[edit]

When I searched for Liberty Ohio I found that there are many "Liberty Townships" in Ohio.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Township,_Ohio

I am really confused, why would so many places in the state have the same name. Is there something about townships that allows them to have duplicate names across the state without causing confusion.

Thanks, Ken — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kj37075 (talkcontribs) 20:35, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
