Welcome and offer of help
[edit]Welcome to editing wikipedia. Looks like you know a lot of useful stuff that you might be willing to share. One thing that we encounter with students and professionals who know lots of specialized information is that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a technical review journal. So you want to aim to keep the content rather general and the sources very general as well. The info we want is supported by citations to textbooks and reviews, not hyper-specialized journals. Lots of our current article cite many journal articles but that is largely an artifact that the early editors lacked perspective or the ability to cite better sources. So keep it general. Although put in rather negative way, a good guide for new authors is WP:NOT. If you want some help, please ask. If you are new, then you might consider contribute little bits, correcting misstatements, citing the classic texts (my favorite method), polishing English. If you want to write a technical review, try a real journal. In any case, good luck, --Smokefoot (talk) 14:23, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your warm welcome!
[edit]Hi Kdg4410, we need more information on the sources used in your addition to the nitrous oxide article. Thanks in advance! V8rik (talk) 23:10, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
