Hi Kbb2 - I checked over your talk page and see that you have a new account. (Welcome back!) However, I notice you edited Talk:Melbourne again, but you didn't make it clear there that you were the same user who had previously participated in the discussion. Please make this clear on talk pages, otherwise it's a form of WP:SOCKing. StAnselm (talk) 18:41, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

@StAnselm: Done, thanks for informing me. Kbb2 (talk) 18:50, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
You may want to edit your signature to indicate you're the same person so you don't have to do this every time you comment on a discussion you have previously participated in using the other account (e.g. "Kbb2 <small>(ex. Mr KEBAB)</small>"). Nardog (talk) 23:01, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
@Nardog: Good idea, thanks. Kbb2 (ex. Mr KEBAB) (talk) 23:44, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Just wondering what is the meaning of CLOTH - /ɔː/ in GA, /ɒ/ in RP, which you left in an Edit summary on the above page. Thanks. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 00:59, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

@BeenAroundAWhile: What I meant was that the ⟨o⟩ grapheme in the Los part of the name represents the CLOTH lexical set, and therefore it is pronounced with /ɔː/ in General American and /ɒ/ in Received Pronunciation. Basically, in this particular case it means that Los in Los Angeles is pronounced the same as the word loss.
See lexical set, Phonological history of English low back vowels#LOT–CLOTH split and Help:IPA/English for a more thorough explanation. Kbb2 (ex. Mr KEBAB) (talk) 01:06, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

Great to have you back!

G'day mate I missed ya! It's nice that I can see more of your goodness! — oi yeah nah mate amazingJUSSO ... [ɡəˈdæɪ̯]! 10:00, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

@AmazingJus: Thanks! Kbb2 (ex. Mr KEBAB) (talk) 10:55, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

At the risk of sounding mom-ish about it, I cannot help but point out you're omitting the section links in the summaries again. Honestly I'd rather you didn't enter "re" and left the summary alone—usually the fact you've added a comment is discernible from the diff size ("(+n)") anyway. (I hope you don't take this personal. I'm asking you simply because I happen to encounter your edits often.) Nardog (talk) 12:14, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

@Nardog: No, I'll actually try to do it. Thanks for reminding me... mom (lol). Kbb2 (ex. Mr KEBAB) (talk) 12:16, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
I appreciate your trying. Nardog (talk) 12:17, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
I feel like you're overcompensating. You don't have to go so far as to revert an edit just because you forgot to do this. That adds extraneous revisions, which in itself constitutes another problem. Nardog (talk) 14:02, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
@Nardog: Well, too bad. That's the only way I can force myself to remember not to omit the section links. Soon it'll become pretty much automatic, don't worry. Kbb2 (ex. Mr KEBAB) (talk) 14:16, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Tottenham

Are you a native British speaker? The -e- and -h- of Tottenham is not commonly pronounced by native speakers (it's in fact pronounced Totnam). Hzh (talk) 13:11, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

@Hzh: No and that's not relevant. See H:IPAE § Note 32, as Maczkopeti has recommended. Kbb2 (ex. Mr KEBAB) (talk) 13:13, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
@Hzh: Please stop the edit war. There's nothing to discuss, Help:IPA/English explains the issue. Kbb2 (ex. Mr KEBAB) (talk) 13:14, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
I see that the note is added recently, and it would help if that is explained in the edit summary, as most editors don't participate there, and would have no idea what you have decided. Hzh (talk) 13:27, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
@Hzh: You're probably right, I should've linked to it. Kbb2 (ex. Mr KEBAB) (talk) 13:59, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
