Citations on Star Athletica

Plip!

Hey Kathryn. Reversion notes always come off a bit stronger than they're intended. Thank you for your interest in improving the Star Athletica article, and welcome to Wikipedia! Two things.

First, the oral arguments are already linked prominently in the article, so the bottom of the article doesn't need that link: it's in the infobox under "oral arguments."

Second, citation templates normalize writing the citations so people don't need to memorize all the rules for something like Bluebook to edit Wikipedia. They also let you use the ProveIt tool to automate a lot of the busywork of constructing citations. If you want to use Bluebook in articles that you're writing from scratch, look at the family of citation templates for that, like {{Bluebook journal}}. For further guidance on when Bluebook citation is appropriate, consult MOS:LAW (particularly the last bullet of the section on citation in the United States). The gist is that we usually prefer it only for case citations. That said, each article can use any citation format as long as it's consistent. Just please don't spend a lot of time converting preexisting citations on articles to Bluebook.

Best wishes and I'll always get back to you if you have questions. ^w^ lethargilistic (talk) 04:58, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you're interested in editing SCOTUS articles, consider joining WP:SCOTUS. It's a pretty quiet group and we each do our own thing, but the Style guide is a good starter for any case article and the project's talk page is a good place to get help. lethargilistic (talk) 05:05, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for all that! As you can see, I'm new, so I appreciate the insight. I reviewed the overall MOS, but I missed that there is one specifically for law. When I have a moment, I'll go back and update some of the case citations (for instance, there's now a U.S. Reports page number), but I'll leave the non-law sources as is. I'll also check out WP:SCOTUS! Thanks again! KathrynSch (talk) 15:18, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
