User talk:Karren Ablaze!
September 2011
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Karren Ablaze!) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.
There are two issues with this:
- It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
- Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.
Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Ablaze! (fanzine). below this notice. Thank you. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:07, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Karren Ablaze! (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
My name only represents me. It's my name... This is my first time editing anything on wikipedia - just correcting a few errors on a page about a fanzine i used to do - and it's so Kafkaesque!!
Decline reason:
You are telling us that your surname is "Ablaze!"? That seems improbable. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:26, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
It seeming improbable doesn't stop it from being my name. Wikipedia strikes me as a world that seems only accessible to programmers, yet you have a distinct lack of logic. Please unblock me so I don't have to talk to you in these stupid brackets.
Accept reason:
I disagree with the other admins; your name is well established, and there's nothing wrong with it, as long as you aren't writing about your fanzine. --jpgordon::==( o ) 14:17, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'm talking to you from outside of brackets ... and since you have an active unblock, you can too. I understand that Wikipedia does require some degree of web WP:COMPETENCE, but the apparent issue here is that your username appears to violate our username policy. Based on your editing you appear to be "Karren from Ablaze!". While I would therefore warn you carefully about conflict of interest, I'm certain you're not trying to WP:PROMOTE anything...however, this still means that the apparent username issue needs to be resolved by submitting an {{unblock-spamun}} request and then changing your username once unblocked. Thank you jpgordon for unblocking me. i am new here... so i have to do this: {{unblock-spamun}} and put some text in it? can you give me an example please, and also indicate how to change my name to a false one? much appreciated...
