User talk:Karmasbh
The following chronicles my conversations with my mentor Xavexgoem. I hope the information here could help by-passers and stumble-upons as it did help me.
Help please
[edit]Hello Karmasbh, I am a journalist at The National newspaper in Abu Dhabi (www.thenational.ae), we circulate throughout the Middle East.
I noticed your name on the list of Arab Wikipedians and wonder if you would be interested in talking to me for an article.
It is about the recently proposed changes to the Wikipedia editing rules (http://www.journal-online.co.uk/article/5405-wikipedia-proposes-moderatorapproved-editing).
If you are interested in talking to me, please email me on: ogood@thenational.ae (preferably with a phone number) as soon as possible. Also please include your location.
Many thanks, Oliver Good. Olivergood (talk) 10:39, 15 March 2009 (UTC) Olivergood 14:39, 15 March 2009 (GMT+4)

[edit]Just saw you at adopt-a-user... I'm a relatively experienced editor (my main job is mediating disputes at the mediation cabal), and your user-page has the best info (and formatting). If you have any questions, you can always ask at my talk page.
So, if you're still around, and you want an adoptee, just say so :-)
Regarding policies, here's the basic summary (and my personal favorite):
The basic policies are better described at simplified ruleset than their respective pages (NPOV, V, NOR, blahblahblah). Hope to hear from you, Xavexgoem (talk) 01:32, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Ignore all rules means a lot of things. All you need it to mean is: you don't have to read every rule, which would be exceedingly boring, and besides you'll learn them as you go along :-) Besides which, I've read over all your contributions, and they're all good. One Too Many Hearts is great, and that's a new article. Doesn't happen very often anymore. My only suggestion for you is to add your signature at the end of your comments on discussion pages (the button on the edit toolbar. Anyway, don't worry too much about doing anything wrong. You're doing fine :-)
Anyway... to upload images: On the left side of the page under the search bar is a link that reads "upload file"... follow the instructions there. Then you can add it to the article. Also, you're free to edit anywhere that allows you to edit, so don't worry about that :-) Be bold!
Hope this helps! Ask if you need anything :-) Xavexgoem (talk) 18:27, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit]All the content on Wikipedia is free to use, modify, copy, and share (as is everything under the Wikimedia name). So not a problem at all to copy :-) Aside from which, the article is open for anyone to edit, so it'll change over time.
Actually, WikiProject Jordan is already up :-) doesn't look terribly active, though; there's also WikiProject Arab world, which has a good deal of activity (it's also Project Jordan's parent project). Most WikiProjects will have an area or subpage dedicated to areas that need attention.
Looking at your userpage, the wikiprojects you'll likely have interest in are (aside from Jordan):
- Wikiproject Alternative music
- Wikiproject LGBT
- Countering systemic bias (covers quite a bit)
But you don't need to start at a project to make an article better. Just follow your interests :-) Xavexgoem (talk) 20:34, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
re: username
[edit]No... at least not yet. Generally user-name changes are given to established editors. You can change your signature in preferences, though. I'd wait a week or two of good contributions. (contributions are transferred over to the new name) Xavexgoem (talk) 18:11, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- You're doing fine :-) Can go to username change request, too, if you want.
- Just edit away (Be bold!), and you'll establish yourself :-) Xavexgoem (talk) 05:54, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
