Good day and thank you for the assistance. I did insert several additional articles. I am looking for other media also. Can I link video loaded to youtube? I would also like to upload a photo however I do not see that feature available. Does that take time for the feature to be available? Can/should I upload copies of his published articles? Again, kind thanks. Karen KarenAustin (talk) 19:55, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. The references are looking much better. However I notice most of the new additions are self-references, ie they are written by the subject. Although these kind of citations are allowed, third-party (by someone other than the subject) are required to prove notability. Do you think you might be able to find a few more independent sources? Links to Youtube are generally discouraged and do not count as reliable sources as they can be uploaded by anyone. There should be no need to upload any copies of his work, if you wish to reference an article simply add the necessary citations details as with any other source, so that someone else could, if necessary, go and find it. Sources are not required to be available online, referencing to offline sources is perfectly suitable. You should be able to upload images. If you have an image that is free of copyright you can upload it at Wikimedia Commons make sure you read carefully through all the documentation to make sure the image is suitable or else it will be deleted (upload page here. If the image is copyrighted it can be uploaded here to Wikipedia under a fair-use license (upload page here). Make sure in both cases you fill out as many details as possible, images are subject to much scrutiny and many get quickly deleted. Keep up the good work. Thank you. Apparently I didn't understand the reason the article was denied. I thought I had to prove the subject well-published by peer-reviewed referred journals. So do I need newspaper and journal articles written about the subject? Many interviews he has given are video though there are several print, hence the youtube question.

I do appreciate your time and patience. Karen KarenAustin (talk) 19:17, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now that I am looking at it again, everything seems to be cited and it looks okay. Great work! I will give it another read over and perhaps make a few more changes then I will move it to the mainspace for you. You can continue to make additional edits there. {{Help Me}} I uploaded a photo into the commons but do not see how to put the photo into my contribution page. Please advise. Thank you! Karen KarenAustin (talk) 20:06, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Type in [[File:<image name>|#px]], where <image name> is the name of the image you uploaded (minus the "file:" prefix) and # is the size you want the image to be; the lower the number the smaller it will be. —Jeremy v^_^v Components:V S M 20:23, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hugh Berryman

[edit]

Hello. Thanks for the message, it is rather unusual to receive them, it tends to take people a long time before they figure out about talk pages and discussing with other editors. I see that your article Hugh Berryman, is currently at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Hugh Berryman awaiting review. At the moment it is not quite ready for the main page (so I think perhaps it was good that you moved it back into userspace for the moment). I will tag the mainspace redirect at Hugh Berryman for deletion, when the article at AFC is ready to go we can then recreate the page. For now though it is against guideline to redirect a live article page to a page in userspace.

In terms of getting the article in shape; If I was to review it now I would have to decline it on the basis that it doesn't contain enough referencing. What it needs is inline citations. This is particularly important for biographies of living people (see WP:BLP) also have at look at WP:CITE. I will add a templated message to your page which will give you some additional information about references. If you have any questions or need some more help just leave me a comment here or on my talk page if you prefer. France3470 (talk) 20:42, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have done a bit of formatting for you and given the references names, all you need to do is put a shortened ref tags after each item you are citing. (see Wikipedia:CITE#List-defined references). Also I notice that one of the references repeats the same information as another; I suggest you keep the pdf document and remove the online copy. This means that there are now only two sources, and though I think this subject is notable, more references are needed to prove it, see WP:Notability. If you could find a few more additional sources that would take care of any potential issues. You might also want to consider trying for WP:Did you know, the article would need some expansion but it might be a good goal to work towards, (have a look at the criteria here Wikipedia:Did you know#DYK rules). I find the process to be quite motivating, and it is really nice to see something you put effort into make it onto the main page. France3470 (talk) 21:37, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing tips

[edit]

All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Here's a video tutorial - hit play, then right-click for "full screen".

Here's an example of how to add references:

Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea.<ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>

== References ==
{{reflist}}

That makes the references automatically display as small numbers[1], which will link to the details in the section titled == References == at the end. You can see that example in action here.
