Czech Branch of the House of Thurn und Taxis

[edit]

I noticed the new article Czech Branch of the House of Thurn und Taxis and the many edits you made to it. I wondered why you thought it necessary to make a new article instead of making it a section to the Thurn und Taxis article which is rather devoid of detail. I also wonder how likely it is that readers will easily find the article as it is named now—I suspect the traffic will be quite low. The Thurn und Taxis article certainly needs much more work especially about the postal services. BTW, it is recommended not to overlink by adding the same link more than once to any article. I have other things going on right now, but will be happy to assist you where I can. The Czech article does not have any citations and as you know Wikipedia have been criticised for not being reliable and to this end it is necessary to not just list a few source books but also to give exact references to the details. Look at any of the featured articles to see the style recommended, or even the only philatelic FA, Postage stamps of Ireland. Hope that helps. (I post in one place to keep a discussion together, so am watching this page). Cheers ww2censor (talk) 16:58, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think this (I post in one place to keep a discussion together, so am watching this page). means? Now you have divided the discussion which I started here, I will put it back here, so it is all together. ww2censor (talk) 15:43, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
you have made some comments and suggestions about the above article, such as expanding the existing T and T article instead of making a separate one. Please note that the T and Ts Category has 9 entries - i.e. other people found it necessary to make pages about certain descendants of the family.
Please be advised that I am neither interested in pursuing the history of philately, nor pursuing the history of postal services, because I do not know anything about them. I will attempt to add pages of sources in brackets where possible but please note that much of the information is common knowledge, quoted in multiple sources.
I must insist that the history of Czech branch of the House of T and T deserves to be told, as the only thing they share with Regensburg's Thurn und Taxis, are a few distant relatives.
Thank you for your comments.

I am sorry but I have to tag the article as a copyright violation because it is a simple cut and paste from a copyright webpage. On that basis I am ignoring your comment above because they are now irrelevant to any discussion. If you rewrite it with proper sources, not just comments about common knowledge, it might be acceptable. ww2censor (talk) 16:22, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I already told you I discuss any issue where I start the discussion, which is here, so I am reposting your post back here as previously requested twice. Next time you post this topic on my page I will just delete it.
Many articles in Wikipedia do not use footnotes - yet they have not been deleted. And please do note that I have quoted all my sources that I used in the preparation of the page which is still a work in progress. I am the creator of the text, both in Wikipedia and on the kapralova.org, and I am simultaneously working on both. The reason, why I want to make this text available under the GFDL is to reach a larger leadership of Wikipedia; and the reason, while the page also exists on kapralova.org is that I have posted there additional images - some photos that I do not wish to share. Hope this clarifies the matter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Karel dragoun (talkcontribs) 20:26, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct there are many articles that don't have citations and matter are changing, so that new article are being more closely scrutinised for sources and citations. You did not provide any, just of a list of books. That is not good enough nowadays for new articles. If you want to provide Wikipedia with the information that is on your web site you need to follow the instructions on this page for copyright owners. For the moment there is no evidence that you own the copyright for that page. There was a statement made by an unregistered user on the article talk page that claims he created the text. That won't work, if it is in fact you. I will be asking another administrator to have a look at this discussion and the article because of your alleged claim. BTW, please sign your posts. ww2censor (talk) 22:41, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have emailed permissions-en@wikimedia.org <permissions-en@wikimedia.org> to provide clarification as requested. I hope that this will settle the matter. I am still navigating through the Wikipedia maze of rules, which have indeed toughened, and trying to learn on the go. The article is also a work in progress, so let me finish it. Karel dragoun (talk) 00:38, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good for you. I hope you can satisfy the requirements. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 01:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Czech Branch of the House of Thurn und Taxis. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. In the meantime, I have deleted the page as a copyvio. It may be undeleted if you can show evidence that you are indeed the copyright holder. However, as ww2censor has mentioned above, the article dis not cite any sources, so even if the copyright problem is resolved, there may be other problems with the article. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:34, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Vítězslava Kaprálová, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charles Munch (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Julie Reisserová may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kapralova society journal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. There is nothing to gain by removing a detailed, properly-formatted, reference and replacing it by a bare URL. I have reverted your edits, but then rescued the update from "Advocates" to "Outside resources", and also disagreed with, and removed, the negative comments made on two of the references, with appropriate edit summaries.

You said "Do not remove, replace, or annotate. Keep the references simple and easy to access", but references comprising bare URLs will always be upgraded when a conscientious editor or bot notices them. I am not sure what you were trying to achieve with your unusual edits here. PamD 19:57, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
