Recent edits to Kansas City, Missouri
[edit]Hello, and thank you for your recent contributions. I appreciate the effort you made for our project, but unfortunately I had to undo your edits because I believe the article was better before you made that change. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you! Babymissfortune 02:29, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
Kansas City etymology
[edit]Kansas City, Missouri is named after it's location on the Kansas River. The River is named after the Kansa/Kaw tribe of Native Americans who lived in it's watershed. Kansas City, Kansas was named after Kansas City, Missouri when the latter's urban growth spilled over the state line. This is well established historical fact and continued edits to change this will likely result in an eventual ban. Thanks Grey Wanderer (talk) 15:53, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

[edit]This comment was left on my talk page after I reverted a spree of edits to Johnson County, Kansas and other Kansas City metropolitan area articles. Grey Wanderer (talk) 23:50, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
This is for 6 months from now to prove I can respect my block. I would just appreciate a genuine response as I will no longer post this on talk pages as it’s disruptive. My main question is how is this biased, misleading, or false ? And how is this trolling ? Or how am I “not interested in building an encyclopedia” ? Or how am I being “single minded” and POV pushing. ?
[edit]Hi Administrators I’ve recently been on Reddit Wikipedia asking people what they think about my investigations case page. They tell me the best thing would be to stop editing while logged out and declare all my accounts (which I don’t have any others), then I have to show others that I can follow Wikipedia rules and policies. They said that I have to realize that the community is made by volunteers and time spent on me is less time you could be spending elsewhere therefore I don’t request you spending your time until 6 months from now. This is just so I can show my commitment to respecting my block when I ask for an unblock request. I would be ok if you stop reading here as I won’t be editing Wikipedia for 6 months and then will ask for an unblock request. When I first joined Wikipedia I stupidly made multiple accounts which I didn’t know was wrong and then got blocked as a sock puppet for it. Then if figured more recently if a made good edits I might get unblocked which I now realize was a terrible idea. I am the blocked editor from the the sock puppet case page here [Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kansascitt1225/Archive] and the Johnson County, Kansas page and Overland Park, Kansas pages. This case page has been thrown around in the description of removed edits on related pages and I can’t even seem to defend myself on my own case page [1][2]. I am a good faith editor and know that admins have to protect the pages because I am indefinitely blocked and that is wikipedias policies. I am being completely transparent. I am just curious as to why I have been called a compulsive liar and a troll, editing in bad faith and severely ill. There is somewhat of a border war between Kansas and Missouri for jobs. I am not trying to perpetuate is as one editor has claimed.[1] some people in Missouri and Kansas also strongly dislike Johnson County, KS as can be seen here in local city forums here.[2] Some of my things have been removed as biased misleading or false from before being blocked like this which is very well referenced except one of the links that doesn’t work anymore [3] and replaced with historical viewpoints like this [4] . Or the statements like this as being said to be false when they were very well referenced on this diff [5]. The person who claims that I have inserted the word Johnson county Kansas inappropriately into Info boxes has also done the exact same thing as can be seen here on the page of the man who segregated the city [6], simply when the page benefited the Missouri side saying “largely suburban Its proximity to Kansas City Missouri has led to population growth” with no reference and me adding it’s the most densely populated county is seen as wrong here being some pattern or goal.[7] I am curious why my edits have been removed since before I was even blocked. I know that the current ones are due to block evasion but the only reason I created socks to begin with is because when these things were removed as biased misleading or false to the point the page was protected as disruptive editing despite them being well referenced and neutral. The only reason I said “same person here” like on these diffs [8][9] is so other people knew I was the same person because my intent was never to deceive or to do sock-puppetry as my home doesn’t have wifi and I edit from public places having multiple ips. Other people sharing the same viewpoint as me are simply accused as being me as can be seen here [10] the only argument here is a historical viewpoint that Overland Park, Kansas is a bedroom community with detached single family homes designed to take commuters to downtown Kansas City, Missouri. When in fact there is less detached housing percentages in Overland Park, Kansas than Kansas City, Missouri. And overland parks population rises during the day due to commuting as can be seen here. [3][4] It is also more densely populated than and has less detached housing than Kansas City, Missouri.[5] [6] and this was removed as not being well referenced or not being a reliable source [11]. The person who originally reported me “grey wanderer” ; basically none of this persons edits are referenced unless it’s a history book. I have been told by others to “fuck off as can be seen here. [12]. The county and city of Overland Park is considered urban by the us census bureau but suburban by most locals in the KC area as can be seen here [7] as I tried presenting this in a neutral way. [13] Downtown Kansas City Missouri was completely abandoned 20 years ago and desolate and is now heavily subsided as you can see In this reference here [8]. I am also bothered by this edit that states that it’s the Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area on the Kansas page referencing the talk page when it said nothing like this here [14] along with this edit that I tried to make more neutral and it was reverted as Jackson county being THE central county of the metropolitan area while having no reference for it whatsoever[15] when you can see in the census reference here there are actually 6 central counties and the official name is Kansas City MO-KS.[9] This user has said the metropolitan area is anchored by Kansas City Missouri here again with no reference completely excluding the Kansas side of the area against other edits from before me even being on Wikipedia [16][17]. I am curious if I ever have the chance of getting unblocked. I joined completely oblivious to how Wikipedia worked and vandalized. I have since learned how to reference properly and I have learned how Wikipedia works very slowly. I feel as though I have the competence required to edit and see thing from others points of view. My 2 requests after waiting for 6 months have either said my case was too severe or have gone stale due to no one responding. One on the unblock ticket request system and the other on the Midwestman1986 talk page. Can I please take Wikipedias standard offer after 6 months with no edits and get unblocked afterwards and not have my unblock requests be ignored? I have read about civility and want to be respectful to other editors and promise to stay away from the project for 6 months. These are just respectful questions as I curiously just want an answer. @Johnuniq:,@PhilKnight: @Yamla:,@Bbb23:,@Deepfriedokra: Kansascitt1225 (talk) 02:50, 27 December 2023 (UTC) Kansascitt1225 (talk) 02:50, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

- I for one don't care what people on Reddit think. All that matters on Wikipedia is what the editors of Wikipedia think. And taking Wikipedia concerns to Reddit is in extreme poor taste and is not appropriate. Thanks-- Deepfriedokra (talk) 03:13, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- Ok that’s understandable. I just want to be part of the community someday. If my referenced information was removed as biased misleading or false I should have gone to dispute resolution, which I didn’t know existed then. I also should have been more civil afterwards instead of making personal attacks. Kansascitt1225 (talk) 03:23, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

- I'm not going to investigate the history at the moment because regardless of what opinion I might form, the next step is for you to not edit Wikipedia at all for six months. Feel free to ping me again after six months and I might be able to offer advice. If you do that, remind me that I commented here on 27 December 2023. Next time, headings are supposed to brief. I realize this is my fault and if my edits were removed as being biased misleading or false in my eyes, I should have gone to dispute resolution instead of making other accounts. I did not know dispute resolution existed then and you wont be seeing me on Wikipedia until I edit this page in 6 months with this account. Kansascitt1225 (talk) 05:03, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
Clearly not operating in good faith. For example, no disclosure of the most recent set of sockpuppet accounts and IP addresses involved. In any case, this user is de-facto banned by the community. See WP:CBAN and WP:3X. --Yamla (talk) 11:42, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- Don't ping me again. Don't ping anyone. --Yamla (talk) 11:43, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
Ok I’m willing to accept that. I don’t want to be disruptive. I have no other socks to disclose as I know of and the ip’s were just way too many to list and thought I only had to disclose accounts. II’ll still try in 6 months. It is with good intentions and if I am biased I want to be helped to see how I can be less biased in the future hopefully if the community can unban me. I greatly appreciate you guys respond to me instead of me wondering if some people actually wanted me editing. I’ll stay away. Kansascitt1225 (talk) 12:01, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- The point of the standard offer is for editors to demonstrate their self-restraint. Following the standard offer shows that someone is not fixated on a particular topic to the extent that they cannot leave it alone. Your current comments indicate the opposite. Johnuniq (talk) 07:49, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know Johnuniq. I appreciate you commenting here and your respect. I was just trying to help people understand where I was coming from as my case looks severely bad and I vandalized a lot in the beginning and made non constructive edits mostly in this topic. I’ll stop here and ping you in 6 months if that’s ok. Kansascitt1225 (talk) 10:21, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hi admins, I have not edited Wikipedia since December of 2023. I have demonstrated that I can follow simple, clear instructions which shows I am able to abide by community rules and not bypass my block. I would appreciate being given wikipedias standard offer. I promise to not use multiple accounts which is the behavior that got me blocked to begin with. Most of these accounts were improperly used for persistent block evasion. I don’t want to give anyone anymore reasons to object. I know now that if I have a disagreement with someone I can talk on the talk page or on their user talk page instead of edit warring or creating an account and that if there is a big enough disagreement I can request for the arbitration committee dispute resolution as a last resort option. I have learned that civility is important on Wikipedia too. I want to make constructive edits to Wikipedia and am interested in demographics and geography along with world and cities populations. I am trying to keep this short and I promise that I don’t intend to be disruptive to the project at all. I know it was a problem on my investigations case page me objecting to “largely suburban” on the Johnson county page. I truly believed I was doing the right thing as I was always taught where I was growing up that a suburb was a place that is less dense within commuting distance of a city which is currently what the suburb page says now. I intend to edit this page to educate people that sometimes especially in the US suburbs are where most jobs are and some are denser than the city. I do have good references for this even from the us census bureau. I think my main qualm is that calling the communities like Overland Park and Johnson county suburban makes people think that more people commute out than into these places and that these places are less dense and have more single family housing, which is the complete opposite of reality which you can see on my unblock request page I have the references for from the census bureau. I won’t remove anything about these communities as being suburban but want to include that they have more density, more jobs and lower single family housing rates so people don’t get confused. I also edited a while ago (more than 6 months) the Economy of St. Louis page and showed how white flight influenced the city’s economy as it was the same for Economy of Kansas City and wanted to edit the page to make it more accurate instead of saying the economy is anchored by Kansas City Missouri even though there’s more jobs outside the city than within it. I have edited these before while blocked but not within the last 6 months. Just edits like this to improve the encyclopedia and working cooperatively with others is what I intend on doing. Decline reason:
This is a procedural decline to remove the unblock request from the queue requiring attention. See my 03:50, 3 July 2024 comment below regarding a draft of an unban appeal. Johnuniq (talk) 01:09, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
No CU evidence of recent block evasion. However, based on Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Kansascitt1225, this user is almost certainly considered banned by the community (under WP:3X) and I do not believe any admin is free to unilaterally lift the ban. Kansascitt1225, you'll need to read and follow WP:UNBAN. I also have to say, your note that you would make use of the arbitration committee is likely to count against you. Yes, that's an option but essentially it's the avenue of last resort, not something you'd expect to use before exhausting all other options. --Yamla (talk) 21:28, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying Yamla. Yes I meant arbitration committee as a last resort and not to be abused or used when unnecessary. I should have been more clear about that. I see in WP:UNBAN that I have to request to have this posted in the appropriate discussion board. My question is what would the appropriate discussion board be and could you or another administrator post it there? Kansascitt1225 (talk) 07:07, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- No, sorry. Hopefully someone else will. I'm leaving town in a few days so wouldn't be able to see it through. --Yamla (talk) 17:17, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Johnuniq:, you said about 6 months ago I could ping you for some help or advice on my unblock request further up this page. I am able to show that I can go without editing and not being focused on a topic so much and show self restraint and not evade my block as you mentioned. Can you possibly post this on the proper notice board ? A lot of my old requests went out as stale because no one responded to them. Kansascitt1225 (talk) 20:03, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- Advice at 13 June 2024 above says to follow WP:UNBAN. That boils down to asking here for someone to post your unban request at WP:AN. You can do that but make it clear exactly what text should be posted. You might include some wording on what you would like to work on. Johnuniq (talk) 03:32, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
Ok @Johnuniq: can you post my unblock request on the WP:AN if you think it looks good, unless you would have any other advice to give? I added some of the pages I would like to begin working on such as Economy of Kansas City, Economy of St. Louis and Suburb for example. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kansascitt1225 (talk • contribs) 21:48, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- See the draft at User:Johnuniq/sandbox2 (permalink). If you want that posted, reply here to confirm. If you want to edit the text, it might be best to start a new section here with the wikitext of what you want to say. Johnuniq (talk) 06:56, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Yes I would like that posted if you think it addresses all the main reasons for my block and has a chance of succeeding. I tried to explain how I won’t be disruptive to the project anymore. I think it also addresses the edit war issues I had. Btw I appreciate your time in helping me thank you so much. Kansascitt1225 (talk) 17:41, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- I have done very little and have forgotten anything I knew about what led to this situation. In general, I'm not going to offer advice regarding an unban request because the community should see what the person concerned thinks, not what they have been coached to say. This has dragged on for a significant time but given that your last comment was qualified by reference to what I might think, I suggest you have another read of the draft. Think about the original problem (which, if I ever knew anything about, I don't recall now) and consider whether the draft is what you want to post. If it is, reply once more asking me (or anyone else) to post it. Otherwise, put an updated version in a new section below. Johnuniq (talk) 03:50, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

In the case of Kansas City this suburban area and the municipalities within it have lower single family housing rates, more jobs, more population and higher density than the city with some suburbs walking to work more than the city. I wanted to make this clear. I do have good references for this including from the us census bureau. I think the main issue I had with the content is that calling the communities like Overland Park and Johnson county “suburban” makes people think that more people commute out than into these places and that these places are less dense and have more single family housing, which is the complete opposite of reality. I won’t remove anything about these communities as being suburban but want to include that they have more density, more jobs and lower single family housing rates so people don’t get confused. I also edited a while ago (more than 6 months) the Economy of St. Louis page and showed how white flight influenced the city’s economy as it was the same for Economy of Kansas City and wanted to edit the page to make it more accurate instead of saying the economy is anchored by Kansas City Missouri even though there’s more jobs outside the city than within it. I have edited these before while blocked but not within the last 8 months. I want to make constructive edits to improve the encyclopedia and working cooperatively with others is what I intend on doing. I was also upset that this was removed as biased, misleading and false to the point the page was protected and from my point of view I felt as though I was being blatantly lied too. It’s a well known fact that Kansas City has experienced decades of white flight and urban decay and I think I was also caught off guard by people in Kansas City calling these places suburbs meanwhile them having these characteristics. - Here are some references • States that Most United States jobs are in the suburbs [1][2] • States that Single family detached homes are less common in some of the suburbs compared to city in the Kansas City area. [3] • Shows that there is a Higher population density in some of the suburbs of Kansas City [4] • comparison that shows people walk to work more in some of the suburbs than the city [5][6] Kansascitt1225 (talk) 09:59, 16 August 2024 (UTC) |accept = accept reason here ~~~~}}

Hi @Yamla: I have not edited since December of 2023. I am aware that I am now automatically considered banned by the community because of my previous block evasions. I was wondering if you could post this unblock request to the administrator notice board or if there was any other way I could get unblocked. Last time I had to go out of town. I genuinely joined Wikipedia in good faith and wasn’t aware that having multiple accounts was bad to use without disclosing. While bypassing my block I was genuinely trying to make good edits and also I was just shocked that people in Kansas City called these places suburbs despite them having more jobs, higher density and lower single family housing rates because that isn’t what I was raised to think a suburb is which made me think I was being lied to. I was just wondering if you could do me this favor so I can edit Wikipedia in a non disruptive manner from only 1 account. I edited from many public ip addresses so idk if those have any edit history since 2023 but I have not personally edited since then.
@PhilKnight: Hi , sorry to bother you. I noticed my unblock request has been opened for a long time. From my understanding since this was a check-user block I would need a checkuser clerk to unblock me as I’m not quite sure who to contact. I was wondering if you could possibly review my unblock request or point me where to go next like posting to the administrator notice board. I hope I have been able to show that I don’t intend to be disruptive and have respected my block for almost a year and how I can improve the project in the future.
- I will post your unban request to the noticeboard right away and let you know the thread, so you can watch for any questions (and answer them here). --Yamla (talk) 20:50, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Copied over, see WP:AN#Unban_request_for_Kansascitt1225. Thanks for your exceptional patience, waiting for this unban discussion to start. --Yamla (talk) 21:00, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
Hi @HandThatFeeds: thank you for reading my unblock request. I’m not sure if you read these references or not, but the overwhelming majority of jobs are in the suburbs in the United States. In Kansas City for example only around 4% of jobs are in the central business district and only 30% of the Kansas City areas jobs are in the city of Kansas City, Missouri. Could you please explain how this would be tendentious editing so I can avoid it the future ? I can’t find any evidence for the contrary and genuinely do want to work cooperatively with others and I honestly don’t see how this is breaching Neutral point of view.

@HandThatFeeds: I know my behavior is what got me blocked on the project and that is what needs to be addressed. I am trying to regain trust by showing that I was intending on making good contributions and respecting my block and not evading it. When I said educate I just meant that some people in other countries might not know how American metro areas work.
