How would Free Trade would benefit Thailand
Talking about Free Trade, this type of trade policy allows traders to act and transact without interference from government. Thus, the policy permits trading partners mutual gains from trade, with goods and services produced according to the theory of comparative advantage.
Thailand can benefit from free trade for which goods, capital, and labor flow freely between nations, without barriers which could hinder the trade process. Taxes, tariffs and import quotas are all eliminated, restrictions on the flow of currency are also lifted and these are considered a barrier to free trade. Free trade lowers prices for goods and services by promoting competition. Free trade can also foster international cooperation, by encouraging nations to freely exchange goods and citizens, such as sending our people to undergo training in one nation or sending agriculture experts to the rural areas to teach people about farming techniques and food safety practices.
From this policy Thailand can benefit on free trade by maintaining the current economic status and competitiveness. The primary objective of free trade is to decrease trade barriers to the lowest level in order to create free trade between the contracting parties. To expand trade opportunities in Thailand, Thailand must create economic alliances and to enhance the competitiveness of domestic goods under free trade which receives preferential tariff rates that are lower than the rates applied to the same product from a country with which there is no free trade.
Tariff reductions announced under free trade reduce the prices of imported goods, which lead to increased consumer purchasing power as consumers can purchase more imported goods with the same amount of budget. Increased competition from cheaper imported goods also drives the price of similar or substitute domestic goods. For example, a tariff reduction on a foreign liquid soap brand will make the imported price of that soap brand cheaper. In effect, the retail price of that soap will be lower, forcing local shower crème and soap bar producers (substitute products) to lower their prices or improve the quality in order to compete with the imported liquid soap.
Talking about Thai beer industry, they may face a flood of cheap imported beers after the Asean free trade which abolishes import tariffs on beer within next year. When the zero import tariffs takes effect, international beers with production in countries will probably flood into Thailand.
After the agreement imported beers could enjoy zero tax and can be sold cheaply here while locally produced beers have to pay excise tax. Major beer producers such as Boonrawd Brewery ( Singha Beer ) have attacked the tax hike as unfair, apparently favouring white spirits. But free trade will also offer a big chance to Thai beer producers as they can export their products with very low export rates. Local producers will also try to improve the quality, prices in order to create competitiveness.
In my personal opinion Free Trade offers big opportunities to Thai producers and to our import and export industry.

[edit]TV Show or Movie Which Uses Product Placement
Product placement is an advertising technique used by companies to promote cleverly their products through non-customary advertising technique. This kind of placement is also called as embedded marketing where branded goods or services are placed in a background or surroundings usually free of ads. These are often initiated through an agreement between product manufacturers and media.
To give you few examples of movies using this kind of advertising techniques are Mission Impossible where the hero was using apple computer in his communication with the bad characters. Another was Pepsi Cola which was used in the movie Back to the Future, there was even a scene that the actor ordered Pepsi Free which is Pepsi’s Diet Drink.
In fact there are many movies that uses product placement in order to feature their products in the movie or show. Another example of this kind of advertising is Toyota; this company will pay a sum to the character that uses their car. In fact not only foreign movies use product placement technique, Thai movies or Thai entertainment sector uses this technique in their movies, dramas, talk shows too and others. If you notice from these movies, sometimes you see branded fast foods, cars driven by the actors / actresses, drinks, cosmetics, beddings and many more. Talking about talk shows, sometimes they give branded cosmetics, drinks, beddings, and other products to their contestants or the show’s guests.
In my opinion, this kind of advertising technique is very effective to the manufacturers as well as to the consumers for the following reasons: During their viewing time they are not disturbed or stopped by the advertisements of the products as the product is already in the scene. Another effective reason is that some or many viewers if they see their favorites actor or actresses using a certain product there is a big tendency that they will follow or try to use or consume what their favorite stars has been using. Product placement is a very good idea in the advertisement of manufacturers’ products.
Thank you and hope my idea and opinion on above matter is acceptable by my professor.
If you are anti-red shirt / Taksin are anti democracy
[edit]My personal comment on this matter is both colors, that are the yellow and the red, have their responsibility and goals for their country.
At the moment, red shirts according to news are of Mr. Taksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister who is supporting and behind the rallies all over the country. Red shirts from various ideas of the people of the country are against democracy or social equality and are also against the present government due to many reasons.
I am not anti red-shirts nor anti yellow shirts but I only wish the country and its people to get through the crisis and have peaceful life. Leaders of the country must think about the welfare of the people not only thinking of their own welfare, benefits and happiness. If you notice whoever the head of the country be it Democrat, Thai Rak Thai ( now Puea Thai ) problems are always there, it never goes away and problems are the same. If the leaders don’t have love, cooperation, unity then the country will never be peaceful. Key element of all these problems is the lack of cooperation, unity from the anti government and government sector.
It cannot be confirmed that Mr. Taksin supporters are against democracy, but at the moment their main concern is to allow and let Mr. Taksin Shinawatra enter Thailand again without any charges and clean of all his court cases which I must say is also not proper. I must say that if you have done wrong and has been proven then you must accept the consequences. If I were one of the red shirts and have power to talk, I will make a speech concerning the love to our country and beg the people to quietly protest and listen to reasons from all sides.
My conclusion on this topic is that as we are all living in the same country we must sit, talk and discuss whatever problems are and we must listen to reasons of both sides. Whichever party you are member we must think of our country in order to have a peaceful and best economy that these leaders could offer their subjects.
I’m not so familiar with the topic but will try to the best of my knowledge to explain the said topic.
What it is to be Thai
[edit]What it is to be Thai Is Thai a fixed notion or is Thai society changing.
A child born in another country but grew in Thailand doesn’t mean that he can be a Thai unless his\her parents are Thai or one of them is a Thai. But a child born in Thailand with foreign parents can apply as a Thai citizen. Thai people I must say are very lucky in many things such as having a kind monarch, friendly people, easy life and food is abundant. Another things is that most Thais have a fixed notion in many ways , for the example in terms of marriage , religion and respect to elder. At the moment Thai society had changed an awful lots in terms of their belief . For example Isan people believe that if they get married to foreigners their family will be better of as the foreign man will surely take care of their family by sending them fund, build houses, buy cars and many more. I hope I got the right answers to all the questions of my professor.
