Replaceable fair use Image:James_Wright_Dartmouth.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:James_Wright_Dartmouth.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 22:13, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:NOFX 7" of the Month Club 12 March.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:NOFX 7" of the Month Club 12 March.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Angr 15:20, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:NOFX 7" of the Month Club 12 March.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:NOFX 7" of the Month Club 12 March.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 15:20, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

sortname template
Spotted your changes to the DCF page - please don't curse me too much for suggesting these things! If I understand correctly, though, the sortname syntax is slightly different from what you've done. It'll work, but is overcomplicated. It goes like this:
- {{sortname|firstname|surname}} where that's the article title;
- {{sortname|displayed firstname|displayed surname|actual article name}} where the article title is different from the regular firstname/surname; and
- {{sortname|displayed first name|displayed surname|actual article name|preferred sortorder}} where it's more complicated.
So, e.g.
- {{sortname|Charles Augustus|Aiken}},
- {{sortname|John|Smith|John Smith (academic)}} and
- {{sortname|Sir Robert|Dartmouth|Robert Dartmouth|Dartmouth, Robert}} (so that the last one sorts as "Dartmouth, Robert", not "Dartmouth, Sir" - but you may not need to know that!)
Hope this helps - for next time anyway... Nice work, BTW, as I said. BencherliteTalk 23:16, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello
Sorry for some of my incorrect additions. I didn't realize about the hyphen use. Also, I changed numbers greater than 10 to be numeric, while less than 10 to be written out because that is usually acceptable writing standards, but according to Wikipedia's Manual, you can do pretty much whatever you want. So, feel free to revert those changes if you'd like. Sorry about that. -Bluedog423Talk 23:09, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Also, regarding the sports, organization numbers, it seemed to me like something was odd because it's hard for me to believe that there are 150+ sports on campus. But maybe I'm wrong... But I expected one of the sources to be incorrect, so just chose the larger one. -Bluedog423Talk 23:11, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Spencer Trask
Hi Dylan,
Sorry if I'm not doing this correctly. Your assumption that I'm new to this is on the money and I'd appreciate your direction. Can you be more specific about how I'm inserting my POV? Most, if not all, of the information you read about Spencer Trask comes from published news articles. Obviously, I must do a better job of citation -- I'm working on that. Thoughts?

Re: I want to offer
No problem! Thanks for the kind words and congratulations on getting the article to FA status! It is well-deserved. It's always nice when nominators take comments and put them to good use. Some people get extremely defensive over criticism. Take it easy! -Bluedog423Talk 00:42, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I noticed you were one of the primary contributors to the Dartmouth College article. I'm having Florida Atlantic University undergo a peer review before taking it to WP:FAC. Since you are familiar with the process I was wondering if you would mind taking a look at the article? If so, please go here to offer any advice/suggestions.
Thanks, KnightLago 22:31, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help! I wasn't sure if I was going to get anybody to take a look at it on peer review. I will drop you a note when it is over at WP:FAC so you can take another look. KnightLago 13:45, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, I know. Peer review is terrible. If you look its talk page someone asked if it was dead. I think it is pretty close. I was curious if you knew someone who could do a good copy edit on the article? I am terrible with commas as you saw. I looked at the league of copy editors, but they don't seem to be very active. And I think if I add a request there it may be months, if ever, before someone looks at it. KnightLago 14:04, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I just wanted to let you know that I listed the FAU article at WP:FAC. I was able to get a number of experienced editors (including you) to do a great peer review. So, feel free to stop by the article again and offer your opinion. KnightLago 19:29, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
FL Main page proposal
You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination recently. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1 2007, voting starting December 1 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual content will resemble the current content at the featured content page. Such output would probably start at the bottom of the main page. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:57, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Your RfA
Hello. I have added an optional question to your RfA, so feel free to answer it. I just thought I'd let you know out of courtesy. -- Chris B • talk 11:16, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Johnny Vegas and vandalism
Hi, I'm aware of WP:CIVIL but when this guy says he will just change IP and carry on vandalising, it goes out of the window as far as I'm concerned. He's lost the right to it. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 22:48, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- I take your point. But it's difficult to maintain patience with these dickheads when they set out to push you. I'd have blocked him straight away if I could on the same basis that I'd tag a new page with a CSD for nonsense. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 22:53, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- Already reported to WP:ANI. But he'll just vandalise my user page again. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 22:54, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
What am I doing wrong? People keep replying to my archived talk page. If I didn't have it watched, I'd have missed your comment. --Rodhullandemu (talk - contribs) 22:59, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
