Many thanks!

Thank you...

...for participating in my RfA, which closed with 119 in support, 4 neutral and 5 opposes. I'm honestly overwhelmed at the level of support that I've received from the community, and will do my best to maintain the trust placed in me. I 'm also thankful to those who opposed or expressed a neutral position, for providing clear rationales and superb feedback for me to build on. I've set up a space for you to provide any further feedback or thoughts, should you feel inclined to. However you voted, thanks for taking the time out to contribute to the process, it's much appreciated. Kind regards, Gazimoff 22:25, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kaaveh Ahangar~enwiki, I wish to say thanks for your support in my successful request for adminship, which ended with 82 supports, 3 opposes, and 1 neutral. I will do my best to live up to your expectations. I would especially like to thank Rlevse for nominating me and Wizardman for co-nominating me.

Do I have to provide a citation from something that has already been cited in the original article? Avianca Flight 011 has its own article and citations. --One Salient Oversight (talk) 04:42, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The original article is not provided with any source from any major news agencies and the most important source that the original article has, is in Spanish language. --Kaaveh (talk) 04:49, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This question should not be used for the basis of one's !vote. In fact, the question itself is extremely unpopular as it poison's the well. The general consensus is that it shouldn't even be asked.---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 22:40, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom vote

[edit]

Hi there! I noticed you voted oppose on my ArbCom candidacy but didn't say why. I was curious as to your concerns, and if there was anything I could do to address them? Thanks very much! --Hemlock Martinis (talk) 01:00, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Curious

[edit]

I was looking at your user boxes and got curious. If you support a free Tibet, then how can you at the same time support a unified China? Shouldn't at least the map in the box exclude Tibet? :) /Grillo (talk) 11:35, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Grillo. Someone have added that template to my user boxes, and I didn't realized it till I saw your message! Cheers --Kaaveh (talk) 00:46, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nizar Rayyan

[edit]

Hi there, Thanks for your help at the article. I noticed that you added an Arabic language source for Rayyan's date of birth. Does this same source also say where he was born? The article says he was born in Jabalia, but I can't find any english language to support this statement. Thanks, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 05:16, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. The source says in Arabic:
  • "من مواليد مخيم جباليا في 6 مارس/ آذار 1959، ويعود أصل عائلته إلى قرية "نعليا" المهجرة من قرى مدينة عسقلان، الواقعة شمال قطاع غزة، وهاجرت إلى مخيم جباليا؛ حيث استقرت منذ نكبة عام 1948."
  • which Translates to: "Born in the Jabaliya camp on 6 March 1959, and the origin of his family to the village, "Nalia" displaced from the villages of the city of Ashkelon, north of the Gaza Strip, and migrated to the nearby Jabalya refugee camp; stabilized since the Nakba Day in 1948."
I hope this would help. --Kaaveh (talk) 15:04, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It sure does. Thanks!--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 16:11, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Russian Embassy in Tehran

[edit]

Hi Kaaveh, thanks for the note on the Farsi article. As I don't speak Farsi, perhaps you and I could work together on the article. If we make it a substantial article, we could get it up for WP:DYK, but of course it would need to be fully researched. I am currently working on another project at the moment, but hope to have most of it done within a couple of weeks. Would it be ok to touch base with you again once that is pretty much completed? Cheers, --Russavia Dialogue 09:00, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Iman Abdulmajid

[edit]

Hello Kaaveh Ahangar. Just stopped by to inform you that there is a talk page discussion going on concerning the Wikipedia article which you renamed to Iman Abdulmajid. One editor and an anonymous IP have taken exception to this renaming, while I don't have a problem with it. Your input on the matter would be most appreciated here. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 20:07, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support

[edit]
Unfortunately, my RFA was closed recently with a final tally of 75½/38/10. Though it didn't succeed, I wanted to thank you for your support and I hope I can count on it in the future. Even though it didn't pass, it had a nearly 2 to 1 ratio of support and I am quite encouraged by those results. I intend to review the support, oppose, and neutral !votes and see what I can do to address those concerns that were brought up and resubmit in a few months. If you would like to assist in my betterment and/or co-nominate me in the future, please let me know on my talk page. Special thanks go to Schmidt, MICHAEL Q., TomStar81, and henrik for their co-nominations and support. — BQZip01 — talk

It was so close and I'm sorry that you couldn't make it this time. But you are a great contributer and a great asset to the project and I hope you have another RfA soon and I'm looking forward to that. --Kaaveh (talk) 02:58, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cfd for Category:Jewish terrorism

[edit]

Hi. I'm not too involved in the I-P conflict on WP so I really can't say. I will point out that both Category:Jewish terrorism and Category:Islamic terrorism have been put up for CFDs in the past and survived (see talk page). - Epson291 (talk) 06:57, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Per "Agha": it was footnote [3]

[edit]

Which is already in the article, in the lede, immediately after the full name and d.o.b., date of death (Foreign Policy). {smiles} ↜Just M E here , now 08:33, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Two sources, as per footnote [2], have differently spelled her name. In persian language, Neda Soltani is written, ندا سلطانی and Neda Agha Soltan is written ندا آقا سلطان. She can't have two last names, in Persian, sources overwhelmingly stated her name as ندا سلطانی (Neda Soltani). --Kaaveh (talk) 08:40, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. By the way, I'm curious, do you have any idea what the hyphen represents between Agha and Soltan? ↜Just M E here , now 06:20, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

quds day page moves

[edit]

Hi Kaaveh Ahangar, this is regarding your move of International al-Quds Day. The name has included "International" since Feb 2008, so if you wish to change the name and it has been reverted you should then open up a requested move discussion, not just keep moving it. nableezy - 20:21, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nableezy, have you not read the summary? While "Quds Day" is widely used, "International Quds Day" is not on any international calander except for IRI government. I would start off a requested to move the Quds Day page. --Kaaveh (talk) 20:52, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your summary and you are free to make that case in a requested move discussion. But re-reverting a move of a name that has been stable (read consensus) for over a year is not the proper procedure. Once the move has been challenged the next step is a requested move discussion, not just re-reverting the move. nableezy - 20:56, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Of course if the new name is challenged, we should follow the proper procedure. I welcome that. --Kaaveh (talk) 21:07, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And I am not User:WIMYV so I do not know why you would address me like that. nableezy - 20:56, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
nableezy, I was leaving a message for the other user while I was posting here, and that's why the names where switched. However it's now fixed. --Kaaveh (talk) 21:02, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
All good, was just a bit confused. But as to the actual issue, if you would like to start a requested move discussion by all means go ahead, but please do not change the name once it is disputed without discussion. Thanks, nableezy - 21:06, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(also I have your talk page watchlisted, no need to copy the comment to my talk as well) nableezy - 20:57, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK. --Kaaveh (talk) 21:02, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1987 Hajj Demonstrations

[edit]

Thank you for your recent edits, but you edited out "The" at the beginning of the article. And it seems that both my Move Request and your Move Request do not show up on the Move Request page. Or am I mistaken ?! Unflavoured (talk) 01:59, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Move Request page. I did not read the instructions properly. Fixed now. Unflavoured (talk) 02:20, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your efforts on this matter. The current title is a clear example of POV and the article should be moved on the basis of Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. --Kaaveh (talk) 09:08, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
