Thank you.
The article The Church of Hip Hop has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 13:49, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
Some summaries of important guidelines
[edit]- "Truth" is not the criteria for inclusion, verifiability is.
- A subject is considered notable if it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.
- Always cite a source for any new information, using <ref>reference tags like this</ref>, containing the name of the source, the author, page number, publisher or web address (if applicable).
- Reliable sources typically include: articles from magazines or newspapers (particularly scholarly journals), or books by recognized authors (basically, books by respected publishers). Online versions of these are usually accepted, provided they're held to the same standards. User generated sources (like Wikipedia) are to be avoided. Self-published sources should be avoided except for information by and about the subject that is not self-serving (for example, citing a company's website to establish something like year of establishment).
- We do not publish original thought.
If the organization you wished to create an article for was "underground," it is unlikely have sources about it that are independent of it. Since Wikipedia is not a means of promotion, we can not accept such articles. Ian.thomson (talk) 01:18, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
