Adding grammar stuff to Kannada page on English wikipedia
Thanks for your encouragement. We want to add useful matter regarding vowels, consonants, syntax, etc if possible on styles of poetry (champu, ragale, tripadi , shatpadi etc).
Dinesh Kannambadi
- Sure. I have a Kannada grammar book and can add all these information. But isn't it more suitable for article such as Kannada grammar rather than Kannada language ? - KNM Talk - Contribs 19:12, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- You may be right. But this grammar topic seems to have done well for Tamil Language page and we just want to maintain the same format, just to avoid delays in getting this page to featured article status. Also regarding adding stuff on poetry/literary styles, i meant just the very basic notes on it with out too much elaboration.
thanks a heap for your help

Hi KNM. I've answered him at Talk:Kannada language. Misrepresentation of another user is a serious offence. I'm just waiting to make sure he read my responses. After that, if needed, I'll block him. Because, blocking is a preventive measure and not punitive. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 06:37, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Belgaum article
Hello KNM,
There does not seem to be much I can do with this issue. It seems to me that the politics and the passions behind the border dispute have made the assumption of good faith entirely impossible for some of the people working on this article. I do not support the personal attacks that are being made, and have consoled against them, but I can't stop them from happening, and I agree the discussion is going nowhere as a result.
The way I see it, given the context of this particular article, either all the transliterative scripts should be displayed or none of them should be displayed. Any possibility of a consensus can only be worked out in terms of a compromise, despite the personal attacks. I'm not saying this is the way it should be for every city article in India, but for this one I don't see another way to potentially get past the immediate conflict.
Anyway, I hope you don't take this whole business too hard or too seriously. it is only an online encyclopedia, after all. we can only persevere.--Amerique 12:23, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
name in Kannada
Hi. When you find time, could you please visit the Chalukya, Rashtrakuta, Kalachuri (southern), Seuna, Alupas, Keladi Nayaka and Nayakas of Chitradurga and name them in Kannada also. While I can write Kannada confidently, I am not sure how to do it on the net. All these kingdoms have encouraged Kannada at an official level.

Fair use rationale for Image:Sachin Tendulkar.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Sachin Tendulkar.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Kannadi
Thanks for ur reply.Kannadi is not a offensive term. The people of Karnataka are known as Kannada or Kannadis here.Insistance of kannadid word is like insistance of "Bhartiya" for Indians or "Marathi Manoos" for Maharashtrians.I*f u dont believe me,see-

Sorry to barge in, but I'm curious. Why is Kannadi offensive, exactly? If we're using English suffizes, wouldn't the standard term be Karnatakans? --tjstrf 18:09, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Personal attack
First of all,I was not aware of what u said. And that was not personal attack, what Sarvagnya is doing since a week is a personal attack. So better u advice him against it and not point out my silly mistakes.Thanks.Mahawiki 03:28, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Well dear KNM, I dont know if u wrote those things sarcastically or not,but I hope u recall I had notified u about my additions of Sambhaji and Shivaji udyan through Belgaum talk page.Plz see it urself and ask ur friend sarvagnya too.If the word 'shameless ' is used for me I dont think why I shouldnt use the 'notorious' word. Its my request to u to check the facts and then endorse ur friends views. disambiguation pages?
Hi KNM, how do you create disambiguation pages? I am trying to create pages for well known Kannada poets and hit a block when working on "Ranna". There seems to exist a page already which redirects elsewhere.
Dineshkannambadi 18:31, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- hi KNM, can u fix that Ranna thing. You can revert my edits on the relevant pages. I think I kind of messed it up a little bit. I should have started with removing the redirect. Thanks. Sarvagnya 18:49, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks. The goal is to do pages for famous poets, atleast 3-4 per empire.

Pampa
Yes we need to merge it. Looks like the Pampa article (not writen by me) seems to contain a lot more material which is good. But we need to make sure there are no copyrigth vio there. Also some clean up is needed since its just lumped in. I can take a look later this week and merge my stuff into this page.

Bad Faith !
KNM, actually I wanted to apologize to you for mistakenly taking your name with Sarvahnya, Kannambadi, etc. (because of oversight) but now I won't do that. Seeing your edits to Rajnikanth, I feel it is not correct to do that. You say you reverted, then how come the Marathi transliteration was deleted. You manually deleted the Marathi script. You did it in bad faith, I guess. I put back the Marathi script. I haven't deleted the Kannada script just because you deleted Marathi script, because I contribute in good faith. -AryaRajyaमहाराष्ट्र 11:35, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
I was really looking forward to work without any prejudices but seems like u guys are provoking unnecessarily.Rajnikant has acted in many language films that doesnt mean we should add each and every transliteration.Rajnikanth was born in Maharashtrian family so Marathi transliteration has to be there and so Tamil transliteration coz he is a superstar of Tamil film industry.Mahawiki 12:01, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Kaveri Disputes article
Hi, After a long time, I have completed the Kaveri_River_Water_Dispute article in some shape and form. Most importantly, I've added some refs. Can you please take a look at the article and let me know if there are any glaring POV or anything that has the potential to be seen as POV. If you find anything, please let me know and I will add refs. Also the refs I've already added need some cleanup. Can you help me with this. I only know to add refs the 'plain vanilla' way. Also, while I've added refs for most of the controversial or potentially controversial portions, some parts of the article is still unreferenced. I will add it in due course. For all the above reasons, I've still left the underconstruction tag on. Once I get feedback from you, I'll remove it. I'll also make this request to few other editors, so that we minimise any risk of edit warring on that article. Thanks. Sarvagnya 23:10, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Watchya Step, Kid
Watch your step, KNM. Before warning mahawiki, first try to stop yourself from reverting admin's approved version to some other unapproved version. Don't go on warning others. I also like the way, you guys work. I mean, mahawiki is alone, so 3RR for him. And you guys show yourselves as three so you go scottfree !!!! So, don't revert again. - AryaRajyaमहाराष्ट्र 05:42, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
I think Arya's made it clear.Firstly I have reverted to admin and I have not broken any 3RR rule.If u want to say something do it on that article's talk page.Dont revert the article again. Mahawiki 06:18, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Bangalore
Sorry, my bad. I usually check the article's history before I revert, but I guess this time I didn't. I will go back and revert, first opportunity I get; otherwise if you feel you've got some time on your hands, please feel free to revert back to the appropriate version. Thanks for the heads-up! Please see Talk:Sachin Tendulkar#"Hamilton" match. It appears that you added this table, so if you could clarify the ambiguity, it would be helpful. Thanks. --Russ (talk) 11:02, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
units in Kaveri River
Hi, I notice that you have taken an active interest in the Kaveri River article. Largely because I have not fixed this already, there are a variety of measures used for water volume and flow in the article, Tmc ft., acre feet, Ml per day etc. I would like to convert these so that they are consistent, leaving the original values in parentheses. Do you have a preference with regard to which units are used? --BostonMA talk 17:05, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I suggest that we use TMC or TMCft because that seems to be the most popular unit used. Also that is almost the only unit used in the context of river water disputes(in India atleast). Sarvagnya 20:44, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Mosque In Mysore
My only reason being that we should highlight the important buildings of a place, Mysore has more important and famous place than an ordinary mosque, which was in the first place included in Demographics which i thought was inappropriate. There may be hundreds of mosques, u cannot jut upload a photo and put it in. Regards--Ganesha1 17:15, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Names and redirects
Hi, I see you are a fairly new editor. Welcome. I noticed that you changed a broken link in the Kaveri River article. I find that if different people spell the same thing different ways, it is useful to create redirect pages to make the links work, rather than attempting to have all links use a consistent spelling. I am not saying this is the only way, but I feel it is a good way. If in the future, editors continue to spell different ways, with a redirect, the problem is solved, whereas, without a redirect, one needs to fix the new links. (I hope I haven't been talking gibberish to you.). If you are not familiar with redirects. Click on Kaveri river, then at the top, see where is says, "redirected from Kaveri river" click on that, and see the redirect page. Hope this is useful to you. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 17:20, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Chalukya
Hi KNM. I know you will do a good job. Lets start the process. I need to add page numbers for all possible citations. some cases I may not be able to though because it may have come from a copyrighted web pages. But most cases I can.
Dineshkannambadi
Note
I wouldn't use those terms if you didnt obviously show you do little more than follow Sarvagnya's lead. I'm just saying the Marathi-Kannada dispute should be kept to pages which actually have something to do with either of those states. Being South Indian myself, I would support a fellow South Indian if it werent for sarvagnya's actions, which have forced me Northward (if you get my drift).Bakaman Bakatalk 00:43, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Your message to me
Dear KNM, Thanks for ur message about my personal attack on Belgaum border dispute's talk page. You are concerned about my removing of the warnings. But i regard ur actions as personal attack because by ignoring Sarvagnya's filthy comments about Shivaji maharaj you have depicted your partisan attitude. I had just replied him in a language he understands. It would be have been nice if u have issued the warnings to both of us. Please dont encourage the misbehaviour of Sarvagnya.
U reverted my removal of warning. I have has same concern when Sarvagnya removed mine and Arya's genuine warnings about 'misuse of popups'. He explained that 'he has just moved the warnings to archive' and not deleted them. This was accepted by admins as well. Therefore my archival of the warnings and messages which I consider bogus and frivolous is not inciviliy. Your warning appers bogus to me as explained in first para. Thanks. Mahawiki 16:56, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Three-Revert Rule
Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. Stifle (talk) 15:32, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
