Adminship?

[edit]

Would you be interested in a nomination for adminship? You seem like you've been fighting vandals for about 3 months, which is most people's minimum, and built up enough edits as well as balance of edits that I think you'd have a good chance of success. (ESkog)(Talk) 00:31, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for considering me. I've been thinking about it, and I think I'd like to hold off on an RfA for a few weeks or so. I'll be sure to let you know when I feel I'm ready for a nomination. Thanks again! — TheKMantalk 03:01, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. Drop me a line anytime you feel you're ready and I'll pen you a nomination. (ESkog)(Talk) 03:02, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for voting on my RfA, it passed with a final tally of 68/0/0 so I'm now an administrator. If there's anything I can do to help, you feel I've done something wrong, or there's just something you want to tell, don't hesitate to use my talk page. Regarding the Yugo article

[edit]

regarding the yugo article, why did you delete the pictures? all pics were taken as shown on the serbian version of the article...

Hello, I didn't actually delete any images, but simply removed the image formatting from the article after the images themselves were deleted by an administrator. I do believe they were deleted for lacking source information or proper copyright tags. — TheKMantalk 03:44, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You said on WP:PNT you could rewrite this article in English. Do you still want to do that or should the article be listed on AfD? The article has been sitting there for two weeks now, but a day or two more won't hurt if you need them - just comment at WP:PNT#Carna, Galway when you decide whether you want to do something about it. Thank you, and happy editing! Kusma (討論) 00:26, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey,

I apologize for the biased presentation of my information. Is there a manner in which I could present it unbiasedly, because I would like very much to present it. Perhaps I could put a disclaimer that explains it is explicitly Christian or something like that.

Thanks again,

Thank you for your support in my RfA.

Sadly, my RfA failed (on my birthday out of all days!), mainly due to it's closeness to the previous one. I hope that in any future RfAs I'll have your support!

Nonetheless, if I can do anything for you don't hesitate to ask me.

Have a nice St Patrick's Day!

King Ahibarn

[edit]

Hello Kman

I don't have any English reference of King Ahibarn and the Barnwal Community he created. I have meanwhile some literature scanned from Hindi books. Please tell me how to send them for your reference.

Kindly note that there is not much written about Barnwals in English & thats why as an initiative I started the Barnwal page and its linked pages.

Do let know what are the things I need to do to avoid getting the King Ahibarn page deleted. In turn, I am searching for more information on King Ahibarn & will update the page subsequently.

Thanks & regards, rahulbrnwl

Slavoj Zizek

[edit]

Hi you, You seem seriously to preclude freee access to Zizek's articles in Wikipedia. Under the pretense of fair access you just exclude any one to post Zizek's articles, and by any one I mean publications other than Lacan.com, such as The Guardian, New Left Review, European Graduate School and so on. So please stop spamming and if you want to post your InThese Times articles, please do so, but leave others the freedom to post their articles. And please, seriously stop the bull about Wikipedia rules, You don't seem to care about them nor about freedom of expression. Yours, sincerely Rudolph—This unsigned comment was added by 24.215.227.183 (talkcontribs) 02:36, 23 March 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I have no connection with any of these websites and have no preference of one over another (and I defintely have not been spamming anything), but excessive linking within articles is frowned upon, especially when one will do. Anyway, it looks like you found a better Lacan.com link and fixed it, so thanks — TheKMantalk 02:47, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, I will put this issue to arbitration with Wikipedia. You are a student in Virginia and you seem to be not connected with the editorial staff of Wikipedia. Again you are precluding anyone to post articles on Zizek R.

Keeping Wikipidia Concise

[edit]

Hey there, thanks for your help earlier. So, I looked at the history page of the physical capital article and it appears as though the question comes from an IP address and was posed a few weeks ago. I imagine it might be useful for the poster to be given the welcome message which includes general instructions for posting discussion topics, etc. But, anyway, I wanted to probe further on this topic of deletion. It seems that it would be up to the wikipidia steward's discretion (a subjective opinion) whether to delete or leave a question such as the one that I cited earlier. Which leaves it quite ambiguous, I guess. Further, is the discussion page meant for general discussion on the topic of the article or for discussion for how to improve the article (or both)? My thinking is that it is important to keep wikipedian articles concise and not bogged down with extraneous matters like 'over-investing in physical capital' (and thus a paring down of the discussion page might not be a bad idea), what is the general consensus on this?

Hi, with regard to the above AfD, I have been contacted by the article author, who was newly-registered, and told me she created the article under a misunderstanding about what WP was for. She was apologetic, very good-natured about it, and seemed to have acted in good faith. Given that the AfD vote is very one-sided, and that it is probably an embarrassment for her for it still to be up, is there any chance of this one getting closed off soon? Thanks, --BillC 07:44, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, thanks for your response. I was wondering how to create the "Categories" cross-listing at the end of an article. For example, at the end of the Salma Hayek article, it lists the following:

Categories: 1966 births | Living people | Best Actress Oscar Nominee | Female film directors | American film actors | Lebanese Mexicans | Mexican actors | Mexican film actors | Mexican telenovela actors | Mexican American actors | Lebanese Americans | People from Coatzacoalcos | People from Veracruz | Pro-choice celebrities | Worst Supporting Actress Razzie nominees

How do you do this? I checked the "Wikipedia: How to edit a page" article, but found no information of this.

Thanks.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Seanmallone (talkcontribs) 01:36, 12 April 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Hi Kman,

Noticed you removed the blog link I put into the SecondLife page. Just to reassure you that this is a legitimate Second Life blog, and that I am a resident of SecondLife (named Biscuit Carroll). The blog references virtual sex, forming friendships in SL and many other aspects of the world as they occur to a new resident. In this respect it is similar to some of the blogs already referenced, for example Torley's.

Would be pleased if you would reconsider the removal. I made a further edit just now removing the reference to the payment of incentives for traffic as this no longer applies in SL.

I'm not an experienced author and if I've done the wrong thing, please let me know so that I don't re-offend. Thanks,

Lex Luthor

[edit]

Why did you remove the Lex Luthor succession box? I saw succession boxes for those who played Superman, James Bond, The Joker, Batman etc..

The succession boxes don't really make much sense in this context. The actors played Lex Luthor in movies and in television, with different fictional time periods, and in a number of different spin-offs. Each actor never really had a specific tenure of being "Lex Luthor". Personally, I think a better idea would be to create a sub-category of Category:Superman actors called Category:Actors portraying Lex Luthor or something similar. On the other hand, I would say that the succession boxes make sense for something like James Bond, which seems to have an established centralized franchise with a rather clear timeline. — TheKMantalk 20:57, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. There was a straw poll in April about merging and redirecting to the List of Lost Episodes, but no concensus was reached. People have brought back talk about merging (which, personally, I think needs to be done), but we're still discussing things. There hasn't been a straw poll yet.

Cummalism Article

[edit]

I was the author of that article, and I'm sorry for the controversy that it's caused. I know it may not seem like an actual religion, but it really is. The religion has 73 members in it and the reason you won't find it on google is because they are not willing to pay to have a website or buy their own server. There are two myspace accounts for it, one is not updated regularly and the other is grossly inaccurate. I personally know the three people who started this religion, Hayley, Josh, and Matthew, and I can't say they're not lieing, but if they are, they're really committed to the lie. Matthew, the writer of the gospel, is about fifty pages into it so far. I know it might seem like a hoax, but fact of the matter is that it's not.I held interviews with many people, and everyone whom I interviewed took the religion seriously. It may not be on google, but its not a joke either. It's just a local religion that doesn't get publicity. I'm also sorry that it got down to people threatening and whatever other nonsense was written there. It may have seemed that way, but the article was not nonsense and therefore did not meet the criteria for deletion. If you'd like to me cite the people I've interviewed, I can do that, I have all the interviews written down and know who said what. I Don't believe this article should have been deleted.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zangermonger (talkcontribs) 21:26, 14 June 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks for voting!
Hello TheKMan, and thank you so much for voting in my recent RfA. I am pleased to inform you that it passed with a final tally of (119/1/3), into the WP:100, so I have now been cleared for adminship and will soon be soaring above the clouds. I was overjoyed, shocked, and humbled by the tally, and, most importantly, all the support. Thank you. If there is ever anything you need, you know where you can find me. Take care.

Request for assistance

[edit]

Hello, you upheld my edits at Shaw and Crompton but Jhamez84 has immediately reverted them. As you noted they were perfectly reasonable edits. Since you are familiar with the situation would you please place a temporary ban on the user and revert the edits? Thankyou. Filmfan1971 22:26, 22 June 2006 (UCC)

Thanks for your input on the relevant talk page. This user above is actually a sock puppet of a banned user (User:Argol136) who is targetting me as part of an ongoing vendetta because I revert his highly politicised contributions. I reverted his edits for these reasons (which over-rode part of your edit too on the page). This user is sophisticated and used such entrapment techniques on the page.
My apologies for all this, I'm currently working closely with admins to get this guy blocked forever. Thanks very much for your time.

Taxobox format note

[edit]

Hi KMan - noticed when you (rightly) removed the merge note at Trifoliate orange, you also copyedited out the underscores in image_width and binomial_authority (presumably thinking they were unnecessary); I don't know why they are necessary, but removing them breaks the formatting and hides the line in the taxobox, so the underscores do need to be retained in taxoboxes - thanks, MPF 11:26, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Negrodamus.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Negrodamus.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD i6.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ talk 04:10, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: Ignore the above notification. I removed the tag as the image was uploaded prior to May 2006. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ talk 04:12, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Saudi Hollandi Bank.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Saudi Hollandi Bank.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Negrodamus.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Negrodamus.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Blason Berry 3D.png

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Blason Berry 3D.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Blason Berry 3D.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Fair use rationale for Image:Cartaya-cropped.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cartaya-cropped.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 02:37, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Mark_wood.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Mark_wood.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 22:58, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Appalachian Trail Conservancy.png. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 06:12, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alon Waisman page

[edit]

I stumbled on the Alon Waisman page while setting up a disambiguation page for the surname Waisman. If I correctly understand what happened, the Alon Waisman page content was merged into the page for radio station KFNX and then the page itself was turned into a redirect; but subsequently whatever reference there was to Waisman on the KFNX page was deleted. (There is a comment about this on the KFNX Talk page.) So now there is no way for readers to know who Alon Waisman is or why his page should redirect to KFNX—a pretty confusing situation! It seems to me that the Alon Waisman page should be deleted at this point, but I am not entirely clear on how merges work, so I don't know the best way to go about this. Proposed deletion of Kevin Stott

[edit]

The article Kevin Stott has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) requirement. Referees are not auto-notable (Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football/Notability#Referee_notability). If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
