A nice map. Why don't you think about uploading your work to Wikimedia Commons, rather than to here? It will get a wider audience as it will be useable not only on the English Wikipedia but on other Wikis as well. There's also a Featured Picture section on Commons that you may be interested in. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 18:07, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Maps
[edit]I'm really inclined to nominate your maps for Featured Picture candidacy on the commons as well (commons:C:FPC) - Commons, if you don't know, is, basically, the Wikipedia image centre, and lets maps and images be more easily used by other Wikipedia projects, such as, say, the French wikipedia (fr:Parc d'État d'Antelope Island would benefit from it, for instance). Now, I could do this myself, but I'm worried that having me as the uploader might muddy the waters regarding who created it, which I do not want, so it'd probably be better if you did it. If you do, I will nominate them (or you can). Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 05:38, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think you can use most transclusions on commons, though if you have any you specially made for your own use, you'll have to copy that over =) Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 07:52, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Right! And I've started things off by nominating your Antelope Island map. Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 00:28, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Commons FPC
[edit]Sorry you got hit by such rude people there. =( Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 04:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Maps
[edit]I hope you'll reconsider still doing it - at least you're appreciated here, on WP:FPC. Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 05:02, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, quite appreciated. DurovaCharge! 06:14, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Justin. I was looking at FPC for probably the first time in months, and I saw your reaction to one very unfair oppose comment - please don't take such a comment to heart. One person (I could use a ruder term, but no real need) does not speak for everyone. I think the map is great. Neıl ☎ 10:11, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]What about the FPC then? bibliomaniac15 Midway upon life's journey... 20:57, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've deleted it. It's still on Commons though. bibliomaniac15 Midway upon life's journey... 21:16, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Why did you remove this saying terribly inaccurate? I thought the FPC comments showed that using gradients between levels had its problems but didn't mean terribly inaccurate--it just wasn't the best method. gren グレン 17:25, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Justin, I noted you suggested you wanted to withdraw this nom in the heat of discussion, but it was in a strong majority of support and the issues raised seemed overblown, so I have promoted it. If you want to remove it from Wikipedia:Featured pictures you can put it up for a delist on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. Cheers, --jjron (talk) 08:18, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Powder_Mountain_Map.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Powder_Mountain_Map.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 17:06, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
