[edit]Hello, Justaspoonfulofstardust. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. In addition I'm afraid that your request that nobody else edit the article indicates that you have fundamentally misunderstood the nature of Wikipedia. It is fundamental to the way that Wikipedia works that anyone's contributions may be edited, modified, or removed, and nobody has the right to maintain control over the content of an article. - I concur with what JBW has said. I've added this article to my watchlist. Nobody, not even the subject of a biographical article such as this one, is allowed to control content on the project. You are quite welcome to make suggested changes on the talk page of the article, but trying to control the content of the article simply isn't going to happen. --Hammersoft (talk) 02:13, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- I apologize for the uneducated comments. I have never done more than just edits here and there until I was asked by Morgana via her instagram in a public outcry (I am a fan and supporter, nothing more) to help update. A lot of the information on this Wikipedia is incorrect, focuses on times that Morgana would not like to have spotlight on that does not represent her as an actress/writer and does not include upcoming projects or current projects. Its not for publicity, biased words or anything but accurate information supported by articles, interviews, Q&As etc
I am happy to work with you all to update the page with the most accurate information. I am also happy to share the updates I'd like to make via the chat. I apologize for my ignorance and comment about not coming in an changing things/ editing things May I have permission to share changes and more accurate information, especially around the career, personal life, and add to the filmography please? I made a mistake in my language/tone in asking that I have sole editing over the page and I shan't make that mistake again. Thank you for letting me know and addressing it. I wasn't sure if this page had a team updating it (as many don't in my experience) and I'm sorry to make that assumption. I have reread all the rules of editing, guides etc and would like to try this again as a team player editor who knows of Morgana and follows her on social media/ twitch/ youtube community. I would like to work with you on making changes and updates to this page. I am not getting paid to do this in any way and my intention was not malicious but to help add information, history, collaborations and articles to learn more about Morgana and make sure the page is accurate. I humbly ask you to allow me to join this article community. I truly didn't mean to offend anyone or come off as gatekeeping, rude or aggressive in any way, though going back and reding the message I can understand how it was perceived that way. I was just worried that someone would come in and delete everything I'm doing, which has happened to me in the past and I'm sorry I made a terrible first impression Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 02:46, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Almost all of us, when we start editing Wikipedia, know little or nothing about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, so nobody can be blamed for starting out doing things that are contrary to policies and guidelines that they don't know about. Provided you do your best to comply with them once you do know about them, it's nothing to worry about. JBW (talk) 09:38, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your understanding.i shall try my best know that I’ve read them thoroughly and understand them more.
- for clarification will it still be okay to edit and add to this page freely (with sources) or will it all need to go through the talk first? Wanna make sure I’m doing things the correct way
- thank you! Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 13:04, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- The official position is that editing an article on a subject to which you have a personal connection is discouraged but not forbidden. I have myself not long ago edited an article to which that applied, and placed a message on the article's talk page explaining what I had done and why. However, my advice to you is not to edit the article itself at all, and always make requests on the talk page, for two reasons. Firstly, having less experience of editing Wikipedia than I have, you are more at risk of misjudging the situation and posting something which is considered unacceptable. Secondly, many administrators interpret the conflict of interest guideline as though it absolutely or almost absolutely forbids editing an article if you have a conflict of interest, even though it doesn't, and they are likely to give less leeway in doing so to a new editor. - Thank you for your response
- I have been putting requested edits in talk page and I have more to add. I want to do this the correct way with proper sources etc. So far I have received minimal feedback or responses.
- I just hope it’s a timing thing and not being ignored because of the concerns you’ve mentioned above.
- I appreciate your time and insight and I will continue to ask for it, if that’s okay, as I continue this editing process
- thank you and best Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 17:42, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
