- Oh, I tried speedying it as a redirect that wouldn't be used, but that was denied. The problem is that has a history, even though the text was the same as the other one. It's just a bit of extra procedure. But maybe you as page creator will have your tag accepted. Cheers. —Torchiest talkedits 02:57, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello JustBerry! I was hoping you may be willing to help me weed out the massive spam being added to the discussion page, Talk:Blog. As an avid blogger myself, I am bothered by this vandalism and it bothers me even more that no one is taking the time to monitor this page. I have removed large chunks of spam today, but from some of the previous posters, this has been an ongoing problem. Thanks. Ormr2014 (talk) 22:40, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

[edit]
Although the article clearly explains that Ben was the elected president of the SMMUSD school board, a "significant/important" position, the user who declined the request gave the following reason: "stop submitting if you are not able to explain the significance/importance of this person"
The majority of the article describes Ben's school board presidency, a significant/notable position. Wikipedia's guidelines on notability clearly define notability: "A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." The article cites numerous independent sources discussing Ben. By Wikipedia's definition, Ben is "notable."
3250oceanpark (talk) 23:06, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) "President of a school board" is not a notable political position. Most of your "references" are not valid third party sources. As a mere candidate for Senate, he does not meet WP:POLITICIAN. By Wikipedia's guidelines, they're not notable the panda ₯’ 23:17, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Why aren't the sources valid? They were not created by Ben, and are third party sources. Would the article follow wikipedia's guidelines if it was not under WP:POLITICIAN? 3250oceanpark (talk) 03:36, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
[edit]Hello JustBerry. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

16:56:26, 24 November 2014 review of submission by Peter Jenney
[edit]- Peter Jenney (talk · contribs)
Hi, it's not so much a re-review yet as a reason why the submission was deemed not notable according to verifiable references, when one of those references was an article that appeared in the well-respected Forbes magazine. I'm happy to edit the item anyway, but it would be good to know why such a reliable source wasn't seen as good enough so that I can avoid repeating the same mistake
Thanks
Peter Jenney (talk) 16:56, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Forbes clearly is a reliable source, but it's the only reliable third-party source provided (the interview with the CEO clearly is not independent coverage). Usually three to five reliable third-party sources are considered the minumum for a Wikipedia article. Worse, almost half the draft was one lengthy quote from Forbes, raising issues of copyright. I'd also say the tone is rather promotional, and parts of the content are not verifiable from the given references. Huon (talk) 19:15, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
Done ...Huon addressed issue.

[edit]please be careful with the decline reason "not plot" ,you have used it, for example on Draft:Asia Pacific Visionwhich is a real media company. It applies only to works of fiction or about characters in fiction. You are presumably using the afch script--the script in its present form make it very easy to make that particular error. Favor?
[edit]Hello there! I've a favor to ask. I just noticed that the Sophie Hunter page has an external image which is outdated. I hope you can help in changing it (or removing it altogether as I don't think it's necessary at all). Thank you very much!41.203.187.145 (talk) 12:49, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

call for help/support to improve a draft
[edit]Hi, thanks for your fine editorial work
My profile is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:AlexisMichaud
A few months ago you reviewed a page I had submitted for creation.
All the pages I started got tagged for speedy deletion. Then after some exchanges with the reviewers of the pages, and some additions to the pages, they eventually got accepted.
For the latest page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:St%C3%A9phane_Michaud you advised me to rework it and resubmit it in the Spring. I made some additions in late July. In the new version, references to publications (including some available online on JSTOR etc) were added. But the submission was rejected again, on the same grounds: lack of notability.
There might be a bias here. Some persons are better represented online than others, but this does not relate in any straightforward way to their real importance in their field. What one expects of a true scholar is that they do their work quietly and productively and don't focus on the "rat race" for honours, recognition and public attention. The person at issue has made and continues to make a strong and lasting influence in his field, as evidenced (among other indicators) by the reviews published about his books. A leading scholar in his field certainly deserves to be on Wikipedia?
I realized that someone had written a stub about me and it had not been deleted, although the "fame" is nowhere comparable to that of the characters for whom I have written Wikipedia pages, which had some difficulty being accepted. This time the draft I wrote for a prominent scholar has been "blanked" altogether, which does not look like an encouragement to edit further. I'd love to be in touch to find ways to remedy this.
Apologies for the trouble, and many thanks for your help

- Hello AlexisMichaud, I apologize for my inactivity. I have returned! Do you still need any guidance? --JustBerry (talk) 15:49, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Henry of Isenburg-Covern
[edit]Hello JustBerry, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Henry of Isenburg-Covern, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Heads of state are usually deemed notable, it is certainly an assertion of importance. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 04:20, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
