Thanks, Stefan. I uploaded the Hild book cover image for this page: Draft:Hild (novel) which I am currently readying for publication review. I tried to indicate this in the 'Article' parameter of the fair use infobox for image: File:Nicola-Griffith-Hild-cover-Blackfriars-by-Balbusso.png

This is my first time creating a new page and uploading an image to Wikipedia. I'm very unsure of myself, swimming in unfamiliar documentation, so I really appreciate your advice and criticism. Please let me know if I'm doing things in the wrong order, using the wrong templates, or filling out the parameters incorrectly. Was I supposed to have waited until the Hild page was published before uploading its image? Cheers, Paul. Juniperpaul (talk) 23:58, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple infobox book publishers?

[edit]

Is it possible to list more than one publisher to a book infobox? For Hild by Nicola Griffith I specified Farrar, Straus and Giroux, the US publisher of the first hardcover edition, but also significant is Blackfriars Books who published the first UK hardcover edition (after the US edition had come out). The cover image I've uploaded for this page is the cover of the UK edition, not the US one. I haven't found reference or examples of multiple infobox publishers in the WP documentation yet. Thanks! Juniperpaul (talk) 21:02, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question answered via Kiwi IRC Help: The infobox book publisher field value can contain multiple items separated by <br> tags. Juniperpaul (talk) 16:57, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Josve05a. I've seen examples of novel pages quoting publisher's blurbs so I thought it was OK if I did so and referenced it correctly. I'll write the novel summary myself and then re-submit the draft. Juniperpaul (talk) 20:30, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I did have to edit the article somewhat extensively. Overall it was good, but there were a few things to point out. The biggie was that a lot of the article sort of came across as original research on your part. I do see where you were trying to get what the author was saying, but in doing so you did put in some of your own research. This might not have been so bad except that it also sort of came across as a little fannish in tone. I don't think that this was intentional, but it did come across as overly praising. I also had to remove some of the links that weren't mentioning the book per se (they were about the historical person) since they were slightly redundant to the link to the Wikipedia article adn I also removed some links that were in places that weren't really reliable. The Historical Novels site was sort of a blog/SPS type of site so I removed that and the HuffPo review/list was from one of their blogs, which has the same type of issue. The Historical Novel Society was a bit troublesome since I didn't know if Griffith was a member, which would make it a WP:PRIMARY source. You've got to be careful with those, so it's usually better to err on the side of caution and not include them. It didn't diminish the work's notability any and it's still notable without it, so I removed it. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:18, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, Tokyogirl79. I'll study your changes to improve my aim on future contributions. Juniperpaul (talk) 06:22, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Stefan. This image was reawakened not by me but by Tokyogirl79. I would have deleted the image but I couldn't see a mechanism for doing so.

I've replaced that cover image with another one, now tied to the published page Hild_(novel).

License tagging for File:Solitaire-by-Kelley-Eskridge-pub-Small-Beer-Press-cover-by-Frances-Lassor.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Solitaire-by-Kelley-Eskridge-pub-Small-Beer-Press-cover-by-Frances-Lassor.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks, Diannaa. I hadn't realized the prohibitions on copyrighted material applied to drafts. I've also removed the copyrighted plot summary from my Draft:Solitaire (novel draft which I'd similarly popped in as a placeholder pending my own rewrite.
