PSY 471 - LANGUAGE ACQUISITION
Hello Juliet
Welcome to Wikipedia. I hope that you find an article that is very interesting to revise.
Paula Marentette (talk) 22:21, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Hello Juliet,
I can read your diffs on Mahara. Also I see that you have made 10 edits. I think that should be enough. The count can be found at the bottom of your "my contributions" page, there is a little button that says "edit count". It looks like your edits to both of the articles you worked on stuck, so you can move on to working with the content that is related to our course.
Have fun,
Paula Marentette (talk) 22:34, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi Juliet!
I just wanted to see how you were doing! I hope all is well!

Juliet,
Please sign up for the article you have chosen on the course page. Thanks

Juliet,
Great start. This is an interesting and technical article you have chosen to revise. A few suggestions: first, I think it is wiki etiquette to add to the bottom of the Talk page, not the top. Perhaps when you post your detailed outline you can move what you have entered already. Second, you will need to post a more detailed outline. This gives me and other people interested in this topic the opportunity to comment before you spend a lot of time developing something that may not be wise. Finally, you can start writing your revisions in your sandbox. I can get in to that area and leave you comments as it goes along.

Hello Juliet!!
I Hope everything so far for the wiki assignment is going good for you. Best of luck as we are approaching the end!!

Hi Juliet!
Are you using Firefox? The problem might be the browser. Let me know if that is the issue. If it persists, please let me know and we can meet to work this out.
Thanks! Jorden 142.244.91.148 (talk) 17:10, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
I just declined your redirect request at WP:AFC/R#Redirect request: user: julietbee/sandbox. As I wrote there, I'm not quite sure what you want to achieve, but it's probably not a redirect from your sandbox to a mainspace article. More likely, you will want the sandbox' content moved to replace the article Eye movement in language reading. Is there a reason why that cannot be achieved by regular editing? Apparently some parts of the old article were incorporated in your draft, and in that case Wikipedia's license even requires us to maintain the edit history, so we cannot just delete the old article and replace it entirely by your draft. Yours, Huon (talk) 13:22, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Sandbox and DYK
[edit]Hi Julietbee! Here's what you need to do to nominate for DYK:
- Move the article from your sandbox to articlespace. There should be a button at the top of User:Julietbee/sandbox that says "Move". Click on that. On the move page, put in the new title - probable "Eye movement in reading" or something similar (don't include the quote marks in the new title box). Make sure the "Watch..." box is checked off; you probably don't want the "Move associated talk" box checked.
- Once the article has been moved, edit the page and cut the part at the top about this being a university project. Click on the Discussion tab and put this material there.
- Make sure the article is properly formatted and all ready for DYK. You'll want to bold Eye movement in language reading in the first line, and remove the example image at the bottom.
- Go to T:TDYK and follow the instructions under "How to post a new nomination".
If you have any trouble with any of this, let me know. Nikkimaria (talk) 16:10, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- No problem, and good luck! Nikkimaria (talk) 23:41, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Suggestion
[edit]Hi Juliet, I hope this is going well for you! Have you considered writing a new introduction for this article? As a reader I would like to get an idea of what the eye movement in reading is before I go into the historical aspects. Good luck! Amae2 (talk) 05:33, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Your GA nom of Eye movement in language reading
[edit]Hi Juliet, I've reviewed your nomination at Talk:Eye movement in language reading/GA1 and it is on hold for one week for some major work. Please see the nomination page. Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:45, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Julietbee/sandbox
[edit]A tag has been placed on Julietbee/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.
If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 18:01, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

I wanted to delete it or keep it in my sandbox, but wasn't sure how to go about it. Please delete it if you can. Thanks!

Disambiguation link notification
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited First Baptist Church, Wewoka, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Church (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi, sorry I forgot to check the page before linking it to the article. Thanks for pointing that out.

Vocab Development
[edit]Hey Juliet, I started our 'leading paragraph' on the vocab development sandbox so that we'll hopefully have something there when we submit to DYK for Monday. Please add or revise it as you have time! : ) Alindsay9 (talk) 06:18, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi Alindsay,
That's a good idea. I'll take a look and see if I can add something. Thanks for letting me know.
Julietbee (talk) 12:31, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Juliet, it's just a couple sentences right now about vocabulary development at the very top of the 'vocabulary development' sandbox on Paula's page. It reads:
- Vocabulary development begins when infants produce their first words, around the age of one year, and continues throughout the lifespan [1]. In early word learning, infants build their vocabulary slowly, but this vocabulary quickly grows. Infants soon produce particular forms, learn about the meanings that words carry, and use words in a variety of ways. Throughout the school years, children continue to build their vocabulary.
I don't really know very much about leading paragraphs so I hope you can help! I also left a message for you guys on the talk page about whether we should take out the brain picture. Thanks. Alindsay9 (talk) 18:04, 10 March 2012 (UTC) : )
- Hi Juliet, if you haven't already noticed on our page, I just wanted to let you know that Mr. Stradivarius set up our references and the short footnotes. This made it really easy to put page numbers in, so I did so for the books/articles in books that I used as references in my section. If you used any books, I thought you might wanted to do the same. I'll leave a message for Asia & Erika as well. Alindsay9 (talk) 15:14, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, Alanna, I noticed that early this morning. Thanks!

DYK for Vocabulary development
[edit]On 30 March 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Vocabulary development, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that in vocabulary development from age six to eight, the average child in school is learning six to seven words per day? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
