Mangum tornado

[edit]

Hi. I just wanted to clear up some confusion about the Mangum tornado. The 212 mph figure referenced by news organizations initially was based on Delta V, which is the difference between the strongest winds on either side of the tornadic circulation. This is /not/ equal to the strength of the tornado. To calculate that, you have to divide the Delta V by two, which gives a much less noteworthy 106 mph. Either way, radar data does not supplement damage surveys, and NWS Norman found the tornado to be an EF2. Therefore, we don't have any reason to mention the radar figures. 🌧❄ϟ TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk · contributions) 00:10, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
