[edit]Hello, I'm Adolphus79. An edit that you recently made to CARES Act seemed to be a test and has been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! - Adolphus79 (talk) 20:13, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
After reverting a number of your edits for injecting The American Prospect links as refs into unrelated articles, and noticing that all of your edits have been injecting The American Prospect links as refs, I wonder if you possibly work for the organization? If you do, it is not a problem, but you need to declare such information to avoid any conflicts of interest. - Adolphus79 (talk) 20:21, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
This is your second warning for spamming The American Prospect into articles. You just added a link to a number of biographies, in which they were barely mentioned, there was no encyclopedic content in the source you provided. I will ask you again, do you work for American Prospect? What is your purpose in spamming links to them? Future additions without explanation could be treated as spam. - Adolphus79 (talk) 19:27, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Adolphus79, Thank you for reaching out. I don't believe my initial message went through to you last week, but I do work for The American Prospect and declared each of my conflicts of interest on my user page. Are there any additional steps I need to take, or is there a way that my posts that were reverted could be reinstated now? Thank you very much for your help. (talk)
- Posting a number of COI userboxes on your userpage is not the same thing as declaring you work for the publication and are therefore a paid editor. The Wikimedia Foundation has some very specific rules for paid editors for legal purposes, please read WP:PAID for more information. As far as your previous edits, they were reverted because you were adding unrelated or non-notable information to several articles, which can be interpreted as spam. This is also not allowed per Wikipedia's rules. I'm sorry if you feel like I am being mean, but these are just the rules here to ensure that Wikipedia stays fair, balanced, unbiased, and honest. - Adolphus79 (talk) 17:38, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi Adolphus79, Thank you for your response. Could you clarify exactly what steps I need to take and where/how in order to declare my position as an intern for The American Prospect?
- I admit I am not an expert on that specific topic, I would suggest you start with the "How to Disclose" section at WP:PAID. If you need any further help, I'm sure someone at WP:TEAHOUSE could help you with any further details, or I think you can email paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org for help. Good luck, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 (talk) 20:25, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Julia.Knoerr:, per the WP:PAID editing policy, interns need to disclose. I really doubt that you have the dozens of conflicts that you have listed on your user page; it's more likely that everything is covered by pasting the following into your use page:
- {{paid|employer=The American Prospect magazine}}
- Ping me if you would need help placing that. Thanks. --- Possibly ☎ 23:58, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
"hoping to edit Wikipedia profiles of individuals referenced in our coverage with relevant links"
[edit]Hi, if your above-stated intent arises from being asked by your employer to add such content, you should inform your employer that they have sent you on a fool's errand. WP:LINKSPAM and name-dropping are regarded by Wikipedia as promotional activity, which is expressly forbidden, being contrary to Wikipedia's purpose, principles, standards and ethics. You may want to discuss this issue with your direct report at work.--Quisqualis (talk) 00:51, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
