Disambiguation link notification for June 28

Hi. When you recently edited Mathspy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Tully (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Mathematics/Featured article template and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Portal:Mathematics/Featured article template during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. The article In the Shadow of the Mountain has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable comp

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Justin (koavf)TCM22:52, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

New sections

When people add new sections, they are automatically added below the template, so you might want to fix that (not sure how). Carcharoth (talk) 14:04, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Mathematics portal featured article symbol

I've commented in the discussion about the mathematics portal featured article symbol here, and raised the issue separately here. Would you be able to comment? Carcharoth (talk) 14:02, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Hope you don't mind...

...I submitted a request for you at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled#User:JuPitEer. You and one other user are together responsible for about 80% of the new non-local-upload pages in the file namespace in the past month. Sven Manguard Wha? 20:30, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

CB&TM Picture

Hello J - Fine picture of the Clancys and TM, but the pic is backwards. It shows Liam Clancy and Tommy Makem playing their guitar and banjo left handed - which they never did. Sensei48 (talk) 14:56, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Well spotted. I'll flip it and upload a correct version sometime ―JuPitEer (talk) 15:03, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Comaphoria (album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. A tag has been placed on The Anti Psychotic Budweiser Combination requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Catfish Jim and the soapdish (talk) 10:59, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

The article Purple Stereo Countdown has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Reads like an advertisement with no credible third party references establishing notability. Technically, it is well structured, but content is not up to Wikipedia standards.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. A tag has been placed on Bucket Full of Fear requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The article Comaphoria has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable local band which records on a non-notable indie label (Purple Stereo Countdown). Fails WP:BAND severely. CSD was declined with the reason: "Album released through a label with an article is a credible assertion of notability." Label's article has since been deleted via PROD.

Talk page posts from 2009

Style

Please see my recent edits to Jordan's inequality. I've brought it closer to the norms of Wikipedia:Manual of Style and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (mathematics). Note that

  • Using a capital initial "I" in "inequality" in the title is incorrect and accordingly I have moved the article.
  • I added some initial context setting in the form of the words "In mathematics..." The lay reader may read the words "Jordan's inequality" without realizing that mathematics is what the article is to be about.
  • The [square brackets] assume their proper sizes only if you use \left and \right, thus
The same is true of parentheses and various other delimiters.
  • It should say
In mathematics, Jordan's inequality, named after ????? Jordan, states that...
with the blank suitably filled in.
  • The article was an "orphan": no other articles linked to it except the list of mathematics articles, where a bot added it because of its category tag. I've added it to the list of inequalities. (If you know of others that should be there and are not, could you add those too?)

Michael Hardy (talk) 19:05, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about that, that article was the first (and only) maths article I've made, so I don't really know the Wikipidia standards for this sort of article. JuPitEer 21:20, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

I have nominated Invent Yourself a Shortcake, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Invent Yourself a Shortcake. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Proposed deletion of Ferris Wheel on Fire

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ferris Wheel on Fire, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --PeaceNT (talk) 16:58, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Untitled (Brandy Norwood), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Untitled. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:07, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi JuPitEr,

I just wanted to let you know that I've reverted your creation of a number of articles on tracks off of this album based on the existing consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One. Essentially, the consensus from that discussion held that the tracks are not individually notable (as well as noting that the articles were primarily original research), and since the versions you created did not improve on this point, they are still subject to this consensus (see also WP:CSD#G4). If you'd like to work on these articles in an effort to establish their individual notability, please let me know and I'll be happy to userfy them for you. Thanks! --jonny-mt 01:45, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Jonny,
Could you userfy them please, then I'll work on better articles to possibly resubmit at some point.
Thanks
JuPitEer 11:56, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Sure thing. Do you want all of the articles or just certain ones? --jonny-mt 02:18, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
All of them please JuPitEer 09:38, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for the (really long) wait. As it turns out, it's actually kind of a hassle to restore all of them at once (the existing redirect has to be deleted, the old content restored, the old article moved to your userspace, the moved article edited to remove categories and categorizing templates, the new redirect deleted, and the old redirect restored), so for the time being I've restored three of the articles so you can get a start. They can be found at User:JuPitEer/In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (song), User:JuPitEer/The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One, and User:JuPitEer/The King of Carrot Flowers Pts. Two & Three. Good luck! --jonny-mt 15:32, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

John Cage

Hello JuPitEer,

thank you for your work on the Cage template and related articles. However, I must say I'm kind of concerned about the template you created. The reason is that Cage has quite a few works (and I'm planning to cover most in the future) and the template will grow to gigantic proportions, rendering it unusable. It already is quite big, and its functions are handled by the category (Category:Compositions by John Cage), which lists the articles we have. There doesn't seem to be any need for numerous links to the same page, either.

I put the issue up for discussion at WikiProject Contemporary Music (which I encourage you to join if you are interested in editing articles related to contemporary classical music): Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Contemporary music#John Cage template

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Hun Hangár Ensemble, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/a_hawk_and_a_hacksaw_and_the_hun_hangar_ensemble. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of The Hun Hangár Ensemble
A tag has been placed on The Hun Hangár Ensemble requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 03:48, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Image copyright problem with Image:Lego harpsichord.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Lego harpsichord.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
