Speedy deletion nomination of Jsky

[edit]

Hello Jskychat,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Jsky for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 13:49, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

Hello, Jskychat, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Speedy deletion nomination of User:Jskychat

[edit]

Hello Jskychat,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged User:Jskychat for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 14:22, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jskychat, Wikipedia has lots of sometimes complex rules. Writing pages about yourself is a particularly difficult area. I'm happy to help you out, just as long as you have read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide beforehand. Peter in Australia aka --Shirt58 (talk) 15:03, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Following up, I'd be happy to place the deleted content in your userspace sandbox if you wish. In the meantime, please read WP:NOTE and WP:MUSICIAN. While you've received coverage in local newspapers, for establishing notability it would require something broader in scope, i.e., more than purely local notability. The article-on-your-userpage can't stay there indefinitely, but users are granted more discretion within their userspace, and I don't see it as unambiguously promotional.Acroterion (talk) 16:56, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
