Notice

[edit]

The article Jeremy R. Potts has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This happened because the article seems to be about a person or group of persons but it does not indicate how or why that person or group is notable. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. --Konstable 06:57, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi, when adding content, (such as here) can you please add any sources to the article, instead of your edit summary? Bare sources without context are a poor edit summary, as far an explaining your edit goes, and are virtually useless, as far as supporting your edit goes. If you could just add a simple, brief explanation of the changes made in your edit, and add any sources to the page, that would be best. Thanks - wolf 18:14, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I just wanted to remind you that, although your efforts to remove the shooter's name from the article are clearly in good faith, Wikipedia is not censored. Repeating the shooter's name, upsetting as it may be to some (including myself, frankly), is not a violation of any of Wikipedia's policies, and is standard among almost all articles of this ilk.

(I will say, on a less Wiki-related and more personal note, that it is upsetting that these shooters are probably committing these acts for the very reasons you described.) benǝʇᴉɯ 19:14, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not saying to strike all references and mentions, but to use it over and over seems unnecessary to convey the facts of the historical event and only serves to fuel unsettled minds that they can come out of obscurity. Surely there is some common ground we can find? Jrpotts (talk) 19:16, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You should start a thread on the article's talk page. At the moment, you are edit warring against several editor's reverts, which is not the right way to go about it. — Goszei (talk) 21:47, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the solid advice. Done. Care you offer your thoughts to the group on the talk page? Jrpotts (talk) 21:58, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CIRCULAR

[edit]

Per WP:CIRCULAR links on articles should not redirect to themselves. A better solution would be to create an infobox with this information. Garuda28 (talk) 01:17, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
