Welcome!
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, Jp10101, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I also see that some of your recent edits show an interest in the use of images and/or photos on Wikipedia.
Did you know that ...
- ...Wikipedia has a very stringent image use policy?
- ...most images from Flickr, online news websites, and other web sources are copyrighted?
- ...Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously?
- ...freely-licensed images should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, a central location for images where they can be used on all Wikipedia projects?
- ...we recommend that new users use our "files for upload" process - at least until you get the hang of things?
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

[edit]Would you mind halting the uploads of images for now? I'm happy to help you understand more about copyright issues and the links above (as well as the instructions prior to each upload) will help you as well... but right now the first step is to stop doing what you are doing. Thanks. EricEnfermero (Talk) 05:41, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- I just received notice of your reverts of my edits. Regardless of US copyright law, please read WP:FUC for Wikipedia's fair use criteria. Fair use wouldn't apply to any of the images in question because these people are living and a free equivalent could easily be created. I am trying not to go back and forth undoing all of your edits, but with WP:FUC in mind it would be good of you to revert your own edits here. EricEnfermero (Talk) 05:54, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- Also, please see WP:NFC#UUI, specifically #1 and #7 as it refers to images of living, public people and commercial agency photos (Getty Images tends to be aggressive about asserting its copyrights). While Wikipedia itself is a non-profit, the aim is to create a copyright-free encyclopedia that can be used for any purpose (including commercial/for-profit use), which is why we try to use as little copyrighted content as possible.
- And I see that you've uploaded your images to Commons. Copyrighted images, even those with fair use claims, are not accepted there. Thanks. Mosmof (talk) 07:50, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
