Speedy deletion nomination of User:Joshdrean
[edit]A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Joshdrean, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. TJH2018talk 17:35, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... I am a public figure and would like a wikipedia page. This is not intended for promotion, but rather, a place for people to gather more information about me. --Joshdrean (talk) 20:27, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Peridon (talk) 13:23, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
Please note
[edit]Wikipedia is not social media like Facebook, and nor is it a profile host like LinkedIn. Those are both available for hosting your information. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, where people write articles ABOUT subjects. We strongly discourage people from writing about themselves WP:SUTOBIO. A user page is for an editor working on the encyclopaedia to tell the rest of us something about that user, or for storing links that are relevant to their work here. It is not a profile page such as LinkedIn provides. All articles must be neutral in tone, and advertising and promotion are strictly not allowed. Looking like promotion is regarded as being promotion. To have the chance of an article (and there is no right to have an article), a subject must pass WP:BIO with reliable independent sources WP:RS to prove the notability. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Joshdrean. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Adotchar| reply here 09:35, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
