Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Len Fontes. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://cvntv.com/page3.html in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Len Fontes with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Len Fontes with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Len Fontes saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Author of article on Len Fontes

[edit]

To Whom It May Concern,

The article about Len Fontes was similar to that on the website for a good reason. I, Jose dos Anjos, am the author of both articles. I was not aware that I needed to give myself permission for my own work.

Sincerely,

jose dos Anjos

We have no way of knowing whether or not you are the author of both the Wikipedia article and the source article. See the section on copyright violations above to se how you can, in essence, "give yourself permission." Sounds weird, but that happens when lawyers get involved. A tag has been placed on List of Korean War Veterans of Cape Verdean Descent, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

This a list of indiscriminate information, and does not meet notability guidelines.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 19:33, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Noticed you've been going to town on the listing and categorizing of Cape Verdeans. I'm thinking there should be a separate article about the diaspora itself, which could include to what you're working on. I went ahead and made one, moving your list of links off of the main Cape Verde page -- that list is probably going to get even bigger with time, and I feel like the main page should be an introduction and list of topics, not a bunch of specific lists. I also noticed Category:People of Cape Verdean descent is similar to your Category:Cape Verdean Diaspora... at some point they should probably be either better differentiated or combined. Anyway thanks for the inspiration, and I hope I haven't been getting in the way of progress. Força. Tanketz 05:38, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I just noticed there was already a Category:Cape Verdean people, with Category:People of Cape Verdean descent under it. Maybe your stuff should just go under those? Tanketz 05:56, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cape Verdean “ethnic groups”

Yes, I had the chance to read your defense, and I have allready answered it. I hope we can keep on talking about this to improve the articles about Cape Verde. By the way, don’t forget to sign your comments by putting ~~~~ at the end of your texts.

Proposed deletion of Cape Verdean migration to Britain

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Cape Verdean migration to Britain, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Proposed deletion of Cape Verdean Timorese

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Cape Verdean Timorese, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

A minority population of ~0.00003% is usually not considered notable. I don't see any special case here.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. "Cape Verdean Spanish" listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

Notice

The article Cape Verdeans in Germany has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There is no evidence this ethnic group is notable. The article doesn't contain anything about its history, culture, just a number. BEFORE fails to show any discourse about this community.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
