reasons why do i say that gravity is not exerted by the earth are as follows..... 1.. whenever any meteorite of big size has collided with our earth, it has never made it in single piece. i mean to say is that when that gigantic meteorite tried to bombard earth, it first faces the force of the atmosphere. when it first touches the atmosphere, because of this interaction it brakes into pieces and then fall on the earth. so now u can imagine how tough is our atmosphere.

2.. the same thing is with our space shuttles. it just cannot enter directly. it has to enter in a certain path that to with a particular angle otherwise its a mess.

3.. u know that when we try to compress any thing, it becomes hot. the same thing can be observed with our atmosphere. atmosphere is exerting force on our planet from all directions which makes the core,center of the earth hot. 4.. if we observe that moon is part of the earth, it is made up of same constituents as that of earth. but it lacks a thick atmosphere as that of earth. so moon has got less gravitational force as that of earth.

Atmosphere is not just layer of gases around the earth, but its a envelope which holds things on the earth. --Jokerthedarknight (talk) 10:24, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
