MVHS deletions
Dear Sir,
Just trying to figure out why nearly everything has been deleted from our school's wikipedia page? One article was on the baseball program that you dubbed "absolutely unacceptable". Why was this? Should this have been put on its own page and not the school page??

- I have no idea what you are talking about. I edit thousands of school articles. I am NOT going to look back through my contribution list to try to guess what school you may be referring to. I'm gonna guess you are a student there? Just the fact that you would assume I should know what school you are talking about from its initials is indicative as to why you don't understand what was wrong with your edits.John from Idegon (talk) 23:05, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your caring, polite reply to my legitimate attempt to gain your guidance. I'll pray for your soul. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.169.142.106 (talk) 23:53, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- Like I said....your attitude is indicative of what the problem with your edits is. There are hundreds of schools with the initials MVHS. How is it you expect I should be able to answer you with pertinent information? You have stated that you are a student at the MVHS you are concerned with. I got news for you, young man or woman, your school is not the center of the universe. As long as you continue to think that everyone else should be as concerned with activities at your school as you are, you will never be able to edit the article on your school in the required neutral fashion. John from Idegon (talk) 17:24, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- To the IP editor 98.169. Let me point something out to you that you may not know. IP editors do not get all the benefits of registering as an editor. For one; if you had registered you would have a list of ALL the contributions that you make to Wikipedia ..available to you and everyone else. That list would be in easy access for someone like my friend John here to look at and easily surmise what article you were talking about. But, you're not registered so you don't have that list. BTW, its also a nice tool for you to have...but you're not registered so nevermind that. You could also have linked to the article like this---Article about you High School---but you didn't do that either. John from Idegon has been a concerned and quality mentor to many dozens of new editors. You may want to reconsider the way you talk to him. ```Buster Seven Talk 00:24, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Buster. Apparently theirs is a fixed IP and they were the original author of the fifty pounds of carp I pared out of what was probably the most bloated public school article I have seen. Over 40 lines on their baseball team with no paragraph breaks, virtually none of it within guidelines. Gave them a detailed explanation of the problem on their talk, along with a welcome template. Have fun at the post office. John from Idegon (talk) 00:40, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your advice on my editing on the Crownsville wiki page. I am new and still getting used to the whole thing, and now I am much more aware of it. Thanks for the editing tips! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Itscatsseason (talk • contribs) 02:04, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Reverts Dunbar Vocational High School
Could you explain why you don't want to list Amos Bullocks in the notable alumni section of Dunbar Vocational High School ?.Tecmo (talk) 05:55, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- no referenced content in his bio tying him to the school. Now you wanna tell me why you put it back prior to this enquiry? John from Idegon (talk) 06:02, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Reversion on Owyhee Dam
Hey, just curious as to the reasoning for the reversion you just did on the Owyhee Dam article. Looks like you just took out the "See also" link that I put in, linking to the list of dams in the Columbia River watershed. Just looking to make sense of this, as the Owyhee Dam is in the Columbia River watershed. Jaywm (talk) 06:42, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- Too late to be editing perhaps? Thanks for letting me know! John from Idegon (talk) 06:47, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
notable alumni sections
In the Amos Bullocks Wikipedia article there is a link to DatabseFootball and another to Pro-Football.com where it mentions that his high school is Dunbar. Why isn't that enough ?Tecmo (talk) 00:18, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- so add one of those references when you put his name back and there's no problem. The line in his article stating he attended Dunbar is not referenced. John from Idegon (talk) 00:28, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Care to weigh in here?
A user has systematically been removing the formatting from city links in articles and removing "unneeded" external links. See: [1] and [2]. When I tried to revert the edits, I found myself in the middle of some sort of I don't know what. See also: [3], [4], and [5]. I know it's asking a lot, but would you care to weigh in here? 32.218.37.86 (talk) 00:41, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

William Henry Harrison High School (West Lafayette, Indiana)
Hi John, I hope all is well. I moved some material that's been in and out of William Henry Harrison High School (West Lafayette, Indiana) that you quite rightly removed from the lede. I placed it within the author's notable entry. I'm still not sure it's in the right place....Jesus Land is a significant work with lots of awards, and the author's experience at Harrison High School is intertwined throughout. Do you think this is a suitable placement? I feel like it may be giving the book short shriift. Thanks for your help, and all you do...I stalk your edits and talk pages at times just for the sake of learning. Keep up the good work! Thanks! Jacona (talk) 12:02, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
- The reason I removed it was the somewhat POV language, along with the placement. You took care of that, and detailing an authors most famous work is not out of place in the notables list. Thanks. That school is on my list because of their history in Indiana athletics. I grew up in Indiana. BTW, I have designed a "standardized" list format Athletics section that I am using. The example in my sandbox is for Indiana, but it could be easily used in Michigan, Florida or Illinois with just some reference changes. Probably other states too. it's here. John from Idegon (talk) 17:47, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
- WHH is of special interest to me - my bro at one time held a school/state record there. I will take a look at your sandbox, thanks! Jacona (talk) 19:29, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

The guy is nominated for an Academy Award which automatically means he is eligible for a page and is notable. Wgolf (talk) 04:13, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- Where did you get that idea? Winning a major award like Oscar makes you automatically notable; being nominated does not. John from Idegon (talk) 04:16, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
For example check all of the years 87th Academy Awards and some of these categories even: Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, Academy Award for Best Sound, all of these have been around for a while and these people are notable not up for speedies. Wgolf (talk) 04:18, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- And their articles have actual references, not IMDB. If you can point me to a policy, I will be happy to withdraw it. John from Idegon (talk) 04:29, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
I do have refs on it-I have seen other times where they have gone to afd and they are kept. Anyway check some of the other articles around. (about to log off now anyway) Wgolf (talk) 05:35, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- I did remove the speedy (which was the first time I ever had one in all my years here! and I am usually against doing that ha ha) as I do have refs up and if you look over tons of pages are up for people like him (well I just hope everything goes good now!) Wgolf (talk) 06:44, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- It's not a PROD. You can't remove it. John from Idegon (talk) 06:47, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Laguana Beach Blog
I am sure you noticed I had already removed it from the page. After a review of notability I did not see anything that was supportive, but it did seem to have some notable points so I thought perhaps it might survive under "see also" as it does not really contain and adverts. Just a concept really NBD--talk→ WPPilot 07:53, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
Seer Karuneegar
I don't think A1 and A7 apply to Seer Karuneegar. The discussion is whether it meets WP:GNG. There are some reliable sources out there, but probably not enough to suffice notability. If so, than a section about this subcaste should be included at Karuneegar.Qxukhgiels (talk) 23:11, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Also, there has been more content (uncited) in the past, but it has since been removed. The practices are basically that of the Karuneegar caste.Qxukhgiels (talk) 23:13, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Real life Barn star Thanks
I very much appreciate the kind words and the Barnstar. Sometimes, in the real world, what we do actually impacts people. When we read about a structure being burned, or torn down, its difficult for me at times to remove the real world and document, when I played there, or knew the people there etc etc. BUT sometimes, that effort does pay off. Many ThanksCoal town guy (talk) 15:23, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
