Regarding John Cockcroft: you made some interesting changes to that article, particularly stating that Cockcroft was educated at UMIST. My sources all say that he was educated at Manchester University, and that UMIST did not exist under that name at the time he was being educated . I'm assuming from your name that you know something about the subject, but I would be grateful if you could provide some references to back this up. Thank you. DJ Clayworth 14:44, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi. I did some more research. Accoding to a biography (which I have added to the John Cockcroft page - it's the one from the Cambridge library) John D Cockcroft studied both at Manchester University and Manchester College of Technology (which became UMIST). We would prefer to give the name of the institution at the time in articles. Do you disagree with this biography? Incidentally it's a principle of Wikipedia that information should be verifiable. After all anyone could sign in which any user name here. Thanks. DJ Clayworth 15:03, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi again. Thanks for your other edits. I look forward to seeing the additional details and pictures. DJ Clayworth 15:41, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
