Proposed deletion of Johan Michael Jacks
[edit]The article Johan Michael Jacks has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- non notable, there is probably not enough about him anyway to create an actual article
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Kges1901 (talk) 09:43, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Are this article and other related edits by User:John Dillonshire hoaxes?
[edit]- This thread copied from Talk:Lauri Kovalainen. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 07:37, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
Maybe someone more experienced editor could take a look on these? For long I've had a high doubt that the articles Lauri Kovalainen (the most dubious one), Joonas Kovalainen (he actually did exist but definitely not a notable topic) and other related edits by User:John Dillonshire are truthful. Why?
- The given sources are doubtful (TV Guide for historical people) and hard to acquire (small American local newspapers from the 1800s; Cheney Sentinel).
- The only source I managed to get my hands on is this one but that only mentions on the page 113 "Joonas Kovala Suomussalmelta" (English: "Joonas Kovala from Suomussalmi") and nothing else about these people.
- I haven't found *any* other sources--neither in Finnish nor in English--that could confirm these articles, especially the claims in the article Lauri Kovalainen. All I've found are merely copies of different Wikipedia articles that the user has edited.
- The image in the article Lauri Kovalainen is actually a copy of the image in the article Oliver Cowdery.
- The user behind these articles has made numerous silly and doubtful additions (which he then sometimes later removes):
- "a direct decedent of King Edward I, whereabouts unknown, an eccentric recluse suffering from agoraphobia and Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder)"
- "Net worth: US$292billion (in 2016 dollars; inflation-adjusted)" + other dubious Emperor Nicholas II of Russia-related claims
- "Ultimately, John D. Rockefeller, Lars Kovala and three others along with the federal government, gave money to create a national headquarters near the White House." (unsourced)
- On the Finnish president Ståhlberg: "Lauri Kovalainen had a strong influence on the young Ståhlberg who Ståhlberg later wrote was like a 2nd father to him."
- Blanking the whole page (and this is their last edit at least for now)
- (Just check the user's edits for many, many more)
These really look like hoax articles to me, and they seem like some sort of playground for this user. Some time ago I asked for opinions at the Finnish Wikipedia, but that really didn't lead anywhere. However, User:Antilope managed to find one of the sources online (the PDF linked above), and User:Risukarhi also had same doubts about the claims and sources of the article Lauri Kovalainen. 85.194.243.243 (talk) 21:39, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
