November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!

We have reached the end of our fourth backlog elimination drive. Thanks to all who participated.

Stats

GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive graphs
  • 58 people signed up for this drive. Of these, 48 people participated in the drive.
  • Although we did not eliminate the months we planned to (January, February, and March 2009; and August, September, and October 2010), we did reduce the backlog by 627 articles (11.2%), which was over our goal of 10%.
  • 49 awards will go out to 33 of 48 participants. Check out the complete list of barnstar winners here.

Barnstars

If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the September 2010 backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering these barnstars within the next couple of weeks.

Our next drive is scheduled for January 2011. In the meantime, please consider helping out at the Wikification drive or any of the other places where help with backlogs is needed.

Thank you for participating in the last 2010 backlog elimination drive! We look forward to seeing you in January!

AAB update?

I know that their are some problems, but shoudn't you update your box. It is not the beginning of November anymore. What else is wrong with it? Nascar1996 00:27, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

I am going to update it. I am experiencing some issues that were not expected. They involve a JAR that was not compiled correctly sent to me. I need to fix the JAR.  JoeGazz  ▲  18:12, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Okay, sorry to be asking so many questions, but how are there so many problems if it is the same configuration as Article Alert Bot? Nascar1996 02:39, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
There was a major change to the API on Wikipedia. In turn , the framework that handles logging-in changed. I also received a JAR file that was not completely compiled so I was working off of that, I now need to compile it the right way.  JoeGazz  ▲  13:49, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
If you're having any trouble with the Java stuff, ping User:Jorm. He says he'd be happy to help. He's a very experienced Java programmer. Cheers. Kaldari (talk) 22:23, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

RFC/Sophie

I have deleted this as out of scope for two reasons:

  • Firstly the RFC is about the block of Sophie not her actions
  • The block was made on behalf of the arbitration committee that involved access to private data that ordinary admins do not have access to. Consequently the community or ordinary admins cannot review the action and the foundation's privacy policy prevents the arbitration committee from explaining.

The correct avenues of appeal are a) directly to the arbitration committee via email, b) to Jimbo or c) appealing to the Ombudsman Committee. Before you do any of these things I suggest you consider the gravity of the actions taken by the committee and whether the committee would have done this lightly. Spartaz Humbug! 14:37, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, as we have already notified Jimbo prior to this and will NOT be involving ArbCom as they are not being of any help. This issue continues to persist, I will be In San Fransisco in the coming months and will meet directly with the WMF office. Thanks.  JoeGazz  ▲  20:42, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

St. David schools

In preparation for the St. David schools mess cleanup, I've done some preliminary work at merging the unique encyclopedic content of St. David's High School to SMK Tinggi St David, which had some content of its own already in existence. For obvious reasons the list of school heads, etc. is not being transferred. There were also two versions of the school crest logo; I kept the higher quality one and sent the lower quality image to WP:FFD. However, I'm not sure how the two should be merged with respect to edit history in order to clear the St. David's High School space for a disambiguation page. Raymie (tc) 20:56, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

I am sorry, I do not know either, I am not experienced with that area, I recommend you ask someone else like Alpha Quadrant or Mono. They may be able to help you more with that.  JoeGazz  ▲  21:14, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
