Franken and Jones
[edit]Franken's resignation is effective tomorrow, January 2. Jones will be sworn in on January 3. It's jumping the gun to change either of those things before they actually happen. JTRH (talk) 22:32, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
@JTRH: I apologize for the error. I intended to hide those edits but was distracted by issues with other articles. – JocularJellyfish TalkContribs 22:33, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
- Not a problem. I reverted. If you can un-revert at the appropriate time, go for it. JTRH (talk) 22:41, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
Smith & Jones
[edit]Howdy. Why can't you wait until Smith & Jones are sworn in at Noon EST? GoodDay (talk) 13:54, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
- @GoodDay: I was under the impression that they effectively have taken office today since Smith was appointed and Jones already won the election. – JocularJellyfish TalkContribs 13:58, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, what the heck. It's only a matter of less then 3 hrs, anyway. GoodDay (talk) 14:03, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
Question
[edit]Hey, if you have a minute, I have an infobox question. You're good at infoboxes so I thought I'd ask you, but if you're too busy, no problem. At Jon Sesso, I added his current office (State Senate) to his infobox. This was in addition to what was already there, which was State House. After my edit, however, what previously showed up as a state house position appeared as a U.S. House of Representatives position. I can't figure out why. Any ideas? Thanks! Marquardtika (talk) 16:15, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Marquardtika: I fixed it. Give me a few hours to give you a proper explanation. – JocularJellyfish TalkContribs 16:37, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Marquardtika: The problem with your edit was that you put |state_house=Montana and then put |district2. The district parameter had no state house to take information from (it was a different number) and thus defaulted to the U.S. House. Let me know if you need further clarification. – JocularJellyfish TalkContribs 22:24, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
- Ah, got it. Thanks for your help! Marquardtika (talk) 22:44, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

John F. Ring moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, John F. Ring, appears to be confused and also fails WP:POLITICIAN. It is not clear if it is about Ring or Kspland oes not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Talk page references
[edit]When you use references in a talk page post, such as on Talk:Ryan Wesley Bounds, use a {{Reflist}} immediately following your message to capture those references and display them just below your message, rather than at the very bottom of the page. Not a big deal on a quiet talk page, but is a bigger deal if you post on busy talk pages. Don't worry, I have added it already and I supported the move of the page. - @Safiel: Thank you for the fix and for commenting on the discussion. – JocularJellyfish TalkContribs 23:22, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
