Speedy deletion nomination of The Yoga Institute

A tag has been placed on The Yoga Institute requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. If you wish to use any of the text from The Yoga Institute's website you must: arrange for the copyright notice at the bottom of each page to be changed to say that it is licensed under CC-by-SA and confirm permission as explained here. However, I advise you wait until someone with no COI thinks the institute is notable and writes about. Also, your submission was too long, written in overly gushing language and totally devoid of independent references. - Roger - Thank you for sending the text. I will re-word it so that it is more appropriate for the encyclopedia. To be clear, there is one outside reference, from Mark Singleton's history of posture practice "Yoga Body." I will also seek out references from the Yoga Therapy community. The medical work done there is reputable in many circles.

- Sorry, I'm not finding the interface very easy to adapt to, so I am emailing again since I can clearly see the button. The 'talk' option isn't as user-friendly. When I rewrite the text, do I just create a new page or do I need to submit it directly to you? That's strange: on this page I can clearly see a talk link but I cannot see any button to e-mail me. How on earth can e-mail be easier? Perhaps you need to familiarise yourself with the basics of Wikipedia before you try to contribute. I also repeat my advice about leaving it to someone with no COI. - I appreciate your suggestions. However, this, what I am doing now, is the process of familiarizing myself with Wikipedia. In order to familiarize myself with it, I have to use it. It's a bit of a Catch 22.
- Forgive me if the messages come as emails rather than 'talks,' (or please send me a link that would help me). When I press the 'talk' link next to your name, it takes me to an archives page, it doesn't have a link to "send talk message".
- As I have no conflict of interest in posting this entry, I will continue. I write about yoga, and yoga history is an interest of mine. I was looking for the entry on the Institute for an article I am writing about the history of asana as medicine, and I was very surprised to see it was not already done. The reason it isn't there, as I have found out in my new dialogue w/ the organization, is there is no one at the Institute who looks after these things. So, I decided to post something, thinking it would be as easy as pasting the history (**not written by me**).

I cannot resist a Victor Meldrew-style "I don't believe it". Yes, there is a talk link beside by name. Yes, at the top of that page there is a block of links to archives. But did you see a "Contents" box on the right or see a scroll bar also on the right? There are rather more sections than the Archive section! Talking to me there would be appropriate for starting a new discussion. But since this thread is started here, we keep it here. At the top of this page above the words "User talk:Joanneoskelly" are a set of links. One of them says "Edit". Incredible though it may seem, if you click on that link you will be able to edit this page and thereby continue this discussion. I am watching this page - I will see any reply here. Try it! Remember to sign your message with ~~~~.
I am surprised that someone who claims to have "popped out of the womb with a foot behind her head, and a pen in her hand" should stoop so low as to simply copy text. Surely you felt a need to re-write in an encyclopedic form? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:00, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you, that was the friendly suggestion I required to get here ("Email this User" was much more prominent and logical, you see, it's just there in the left hand column). Now I know "Edit" means "Reply to Message" in wikitalk. Got it. (Am I really the first newbie to describe the interface here as counter-intuitive?)
- I'm not sure why you were on my personal work-in-progress-online-resume (which I have not been sharing links to in my email signature (or anywhere for that matter), but thanks for the visit. It's not even been officially launched and already it's being quoted!

I will admit that possibly as many as 10% of the newbies who contact me do so by e-mail rather than on my user talk page. Perhaps we should do something about it. I wrote on your "work-in-progress" site just to let you know I had found it. It helped satisfy me that you probably have no COI. It may be WIP but Google has already indexed several of its pages. Another point to study is the message at the top of this page: "remember to sign your posts by typing four tildes (~~~~)". If you write a new article, I recommend you to put it in user:Joanneoskelly/sandbox. - I don't believe it (again) - how could anybody actually create an article with a speedy delete request already in place! Yes, you posted it in the right place but look at the history of user:Joanneoskelly/sandbox - the very first version has a speedy deletion tag. May I suggest that you use the "show preview" option before you save any of your edits. Right, I've taken out the first line of the entry and when looking at the preview, there doesn't appear to be any messages about deletion. I also have some images to add to the real entry, when it's ready to leave the sandbox (bites nails nervously). By the way, the Victor Meldrew face is fantastic. Thanks for the weekend's first chuckle.
- You say you took "out the first line of the entry". If you actually look at the edit history, you will see that you did not - I did it. - Image uploads are pointless unless you use them in an article. I regret to have to reprimand you again for your contempt of copyright. If I had found File:TheYogaInstituteGrounds.jpg on the institute's website, I would have requested its deletion from the Commons. Will you please: go back to the institute and get a decent sized image; not just a near-thumbnail, get the institute to confirm permission as described here; upload the image to the Commons, citing the Institute as the copyright holder - not you for goodness sake!

Hm, apologies for that, the Yoga Institute sent me that image to use themselves, so it was as good as "mine," in my limited understanding of copyright. The panoramic image is straight from my camera, however, so I assume it's OK to use that one when I the entry. Going to move it from the Sandbox to The Yoga Institute. — now. - Your understanding of copyright is hopelessly inadequate. "Sent me" does not mean give up any copyright. We need explicit confirmation by the Institute via OTRS that they release the image under GFDL/CC licence/s. You also seem to be confused about authorship. Presumably you mean the Institute sent you File:HansajiDrJayadev.jpg so why have claimed it as your own work? You claim the panoramic image is straight from your camera but you have labelled File:TheYogaInstituteGrounds.jpg with a source of "The Yoga Institute". (I was dubious that it came from your camera but I see that the DSC-WX5 does actually have a sweep panorama feature. But it has a 12.2 megapixel sensor so why on earth is the image a pathetic 500×110px.)

[edit]You tell me that you are going to move it from the Sandbox to The Yoga Institute and you express concern about getting upper case right. So what do you do? - I thought copy/paste was the means to move ... The caps issue was the result of my sloppy search for the page, thinking I would then have an opportunity to write tne entry, I assumed incorrectly I could change the title too - and didn't notice it was not in caps until later. Sorry for all the sloppiness! It looks like it's live now, thank you very much. You'll be thrilled to know I may be posting one more entry for Shri Yogendraji (something similar to the BKS Iyengar entry). You did have "an opportunity to change the title too" - it is called a move. You failed to take the opportunity. You are not yet out of my hair - you have two images on the Commons with unsatisfactory descriptions.
