[edit]

Welcome to the Wikipedia, Jmk56! And thanks for contributing to the Psychiatric hospital article, although use of the term 'highly' might be toned down because it might seem a tad POVish. Hope you enjoy editing here and becoming a Wikipedian! Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:

One more try

[edit]

First, if you post to my talk page again, I require two things:

  • Sign your post with four tildes
  • Place your message at the bottom of the page.

These are both standard on WIkipedia. Please do this.

Second, I must respond to your latest message, which follows:

I'm perfectly calm, Wyss, and I likewise couldn't care less who *you* are, but I will not tolerate inaccuracies in this article. I have spent over 20 years correcting untruths about Frances, with the help not only of the Farmers, but also several independent researchers, like Freeman biographer Jack El-Hai. BTW, I am a Shallenberger on my mother's side, if that name means anything to you, with your Swiss heritage.

That's fine. If you think I have a problem with any of that, you're a bonehead.

But as far as "only cleaning up the prose," let me review some of the complete factual inaccuracies that you, or someone posing as you, added to the article

1. You stated that she went to Russia as part of the "God Dies" essay contest. Completely and irrefutiably incorrect. "God Dies" was 1931, the Russia trip was 1935, won as part of her Voice of Action subscription contest.

You're mistaken, I didn't state that, I only cleaned up the prose. The writing may have been foggy to begin with. Anyway I'm glad you're inserting the correct information, so what's the problem? Why the confrontational tone? Wyss 23:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2. You state that she ended the affair with Odets. Again, incorrect. Odets, rather famously, ended the affair with a telegram to Frances in 1938 that Luise Rainer was due back from Europe and he thought it best that they not see each other any more.

You are mistaken. I didn't state that. I cleaned up the prose. That statement was already there (if that's how you read it). Anyway I'm glad you're inserting the correct information, so what's the problem? Why the confrontational tone? Wyss 23:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3. You repeat manifold inaccuracies regarding her initial arrest, including that she appeared before the officers nude. This is simply more sensationalized hokum repeated from the books. I have complete arrest records as well as every major contemporary news article written about the arrest, and Frances did not appear nude before the officers. She did for a moment lock herself in the bathroom, but soon came out and surrendered.

4. You state that Lee Mikesell "tracked her down" in Eureka. Again, incorrect. Mikesell ran into her quite by accident at a local bar and recognized her.

I did change the wording to "tracked her down." I had read that in my preparation for cleaning up this article. Thanks for correcting it. I'm glad you're inserting correct information, so what's the problem? Why the confrontational tone? Wyss 23:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

These are just the first four that spring to mind, but I'll now go back and happily make a complete list if you want.

I'll say this one last time, more clearly. Please be polite. There is no need for a confrontational tone. I totally agree with you (except for your tone and manner), so back off, let's cooperate and be thankful that we can get Frances' story straight for the large number of readers who will see it here. Thank you. Wyss 23:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Though I initially deleted this page since Wyss is perhaps having a bad day and/or year, I decided to revert to it when she claimed she had not made any of the errors I cited and when she then claimed she had not called me a "bonehead." The bonehead proof is above. Here is proof of her inaccurate edits:
