Advice Sought on Problem Article and Possible Contribution

I run a small web company that sells an unusual line of goods. I recently came across a well-intentioned Wikipedia article (done by 6 members of the Wikipedia staff)on how to install what I sell that ranges from mildly incorrect to wildly off. A few edits cannot provide a fix, because errors run all through the three-page contribution. How can I help? I would be glad to provide a contribution of my own, but I would need to know the following: (1) Could such a contribution be accepted if there is already an article on this subject in place? (2) If it could be accepted, how would my contribution relate to the existing one? Would they run together, or would one eclipse the other? (3) Would it be permissible for my contribution to refer or link to our company's commercial website, specifically to the non-commercial videos and 5,000-word text on installation that are generally considered the best available on this subject? Thanks very much for any advice and assistance you can provide.

To briefly answer your questions (please note that we are all volunteers and as such there are no Wikipedia staff creating/editing articles)

Questions 1 & 2. If an article already exists on a topic then that article will remain and can be updated by any editor (subject to some rules, such as sourcing (see WP:RS and WP:Citing sources), notability (WP:Notability), in your case conflict of interest (WP:COI) and neutral point of view (WP:NPOV) would have to be taken into account. You cannot create another rival article about the same topic.

Question 3. Generally an article about a company can have a link to the main page of a company website in the Infobox. Linking to "how to" videos and/or texts would most likely be reverted as WP:Spam, as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a user manual or a means to showcasing a companys products.

Hey, Jljm09. I saw you asking for help regarding Draft:Deer Fence at the Teahouse a while back and wanted to check in. While I'm aware the draft was rejected due to reading more like a guide for the use of deer fences rather than an encyclopedic article, a draft rejection is fairly common for new editors, as creating an article from scratch is one of the most advanced tasks an editor can set out to do.

In addition to encouraging you to keep working at your draft to move it more in line with Wikipedia's purpose, I wanted to let you know about Wikibooks, one of our sister projects, whose purpose is to create a free library of educational textbooks. I believe your draft – in something very close to its current state (barring the direct links to storefronts) – would be welcome there, as much of its material consists of how-to guides.

Moreover, while I didn't ask before because I wanted to give you some room to breathe and because I wouldn't know much about the topic without researching, I could take some time to help edit your article to conform with Wikipedia's guidelines, because while I understand that it was rejected for good reason, it also seems like a waste – both because it could probably be a valuable entry with a couple more hours of work and because it's the first contribution from a good-faith editor with seemingly a lot of potential and enthusiasm.
