Why sources should be cited

[edit]

According to WP:CITE and WP:REF

  • To help users find additional reliable information on the topic.
  • To ensure that the content of articles is credible and can be checked by any reader or editor.
  • To improve the overall credibility and authoritative character of Wikipedia.
  • To show that your edit isn't original research.
  • To reduce the likelihood of editorial disputes, or to resolve any that arise.
  • To credit a source for providing useful information and to avoid claims of plagiarism.

Thanks

RFC Regarding your username

[edit]

I'm going to file an RFC regarding your username, since I believe it to be confusingly similar to that of our boss, Jimbo_Wales (talk · contribs). Editor88 16:21, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not believe there is a rule on Wikipedia that the name Jimbo can be used exclusively only by Mr. Wales. --Ezeu 23:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, there -- I saw you left another editor a message asking about ways to change your username, but I don't see if they got back to you. If you'd like, you can file a request at WP:CHU. You don't have to, of course; they did file that RfC (specifically, a username RfC), but as you can see here, consensus was to allow it. On the other hand, you'll probably catch some flack for that, over time; provided you're willing to put up with that and that you don't go for any impersonations, I think you're fine. :) Sorry for the intrusion, and happy editing. Vote KEEP on Frot article

[edit]

Some user is trying to delete the Frot article. Vote to keep this important article. --Haldrik 20:00, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article Active Trader has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable magazine.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 10:27, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
