User:Jkelly and image deletions
[edit]Hi. Do you know how to use the Logs? You can find my deletion log here. Let me know if you have any questions. Jkelly 16:32, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Your concern inspired me to begin work on a guide to other administrators who help with Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. You can find the result so far at User:Jkelly/Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion closure flowchart. Feel free to let me know what you think of it. Jkelly 03:38, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for not responding. Unfortunately, real life concerns have me on the run. You can probably forget any action from me on the image copyright issue. I just don't have the time to get as familiar with the facts as I should be before lodging complaints... I've talked with JDG a bit on this (as it's what led to his getting blocked), maybe now that he's active again he'll want to take up the issue with you. Good luck. Jim Tour 23:12, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Professor Edward Said:
“ | I have not been able to discover any period in European or American history since the Middle Ages in which Islam was generally discussed or thought about outside a framework created by passion, prejudice and political interests. | ” |
--Aminz 08:06, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- An interesting quotation, a subtle criticism of non-Muslims, particularly of European and European-derived Christians, for failing to regard Islam in its own right as a spiritual answer to life's greatest questions, separate from temporal political/economic concerns. Nevertheless, Aminz, the major Muslim leaders and factions made that sort of peaceful study and calm regard rather difficult as they engaged in a shockingly rapid spread of their faith by the sword, or should we say by the scimitar. That's right, no other religion seriously contends with Islam for mass forced conversions and outright nation-conquering-with-immediate-installations-of-theocracy. Yes, Christianity is in second place, but a very distant second. This couldn't help but color, nay, determine outsiders' regard of Islam as a militant force first, spiritual force second or third, as it seemed to be all about war prowess, forceful imposition, strongman prestige, etc.,. And the modern cry of "Jihad!", of course, does less than nothing to mitigate this... Are the Christians hypocrits in this, as they too sometimes spread their beliefs by any means available? Actually I don't think so. An honest appraisal of historical fact shows much less use of brute force by Christians than is popularly supposed even in modern (nominally) Christian lands. No doubt you will disagree, but that is a very long discussion. Jim Tour 22:29, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Olympic Rings image
[edit]Just wanted to let you know that I removed the Olympic Rings image from one of your subpages (User:Jim Tour/hold). We can't have Fair Use images in the user space, and I'm just doing a little cleaning up. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! tiZom(2¢) 21:12, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Guernica skull decontrast.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Guernica skull decontrast.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
