Deletion

[edit]

Hi, Jim: when you mark an article for speedy deletion it is helpful if you add a reason in the tag.--Anthony.bradbury 15:27, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Islam in China reverts

[edit]

I notified Madman that his edits to Islam in China were in violation of the three reverts rule. Now that notice has been served to his talk page, it'd be kosher for you to report him at WP:AN/3RR. It's gotta stop at some point, and nothing short of getting the admins involved is going to stop it. MrZaiustalk 22:20, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin Stats

[edit]

Not to sound selfish or anything, but I was just curious what my admin stats were. Yanksox 14:16, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will see if I can sort out a sub-page or something. I am reluctant to provide stats for identified admins without them asking for it, but we will see. Here are yours (excuse the raw format - it should be tab-delimited) (Jim182 14:30, 24 September 2006 (UTC)):[reply]

Very cool, thank you very much. Yanksox 14:34, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to look at some of the stats on the pages listed here. NoSeptember 14:46, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. See also admin statdump sub-page. Jim182 15:51, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin actions (block/delete)

[edit]

Quote: "Admin actions are simply defined as: block, unblock, delete, restore, protect, and unprotect."

Would it be possible to do a comparison of the pairs of actions (block/unblock; delete/restore; protect/unprotect)?

I found it interesting that deletion is over 80% of action, for example. - jc37 15:41, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I will take a look and see if I can pull anything interesting from it, but I am a little unclear about what you might be expecting. The proportion of deletions has remained relatively constant over time, since it is the 'staple' of the admins' actions. You can see from this image the approximate proportions, and from the data in the subpage a further breakdown, but I will see if I can present it better. I get the impression that there is one set of admins who do the page protection, and another lot who do the unprotection (!) - I hope to analyse that further. The same may be true of the deletions and restorations. There is something to consider about the delete/restore statistics, and even the protect/unprotect stats, and that is that they can often be part of the same single action - for example merging page histories involves deleting then restoring parts of an article, and page protections are often tweaked from full to semi-protection, and also user blocks are often undone to enable a lengthier block. I will see what I can find, but if you have anything more specific in mind, just say. Jim182 19:27, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
All of that sounds very interesting (and I am interested in those results as well, if for no other reason than curiosity : )
As for my question, I'm mostly attempting to determine how many admins regularly use the block/unblock tools. That alone, and in comparison to those admins that use the other tools (comparison: the same admin regularly blocking and deleting, or different admins, each doing something different.) Thanks again, that graph you just linked to was very interesting. - jc37 12:56, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin stats 2

[edit]

I have revisited the administrator logs to get an up-to-date picture. The new data, daily for the whole of 2005 and 2006, is here Jim182 17:04, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there something I need to do to not see the page as just a solid block of numbers (excluding the run on words that I presume are meant to be column headers)? - jc37 17:23, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The data is stored as tab-delimited, you can view the page source and copy'n'paste the data straight into a spreadsheet to create graphs and so on. Jim182 17:34, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clarification : )
And speaking of clarification, I'm not certain what some of the columns mean. For example, What are the quantities in the column under "admin"? It shows 202 as of december, but we had over 1000 at that point. I'm confused : ) - jc37 18:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The admins column is the number of unique admins who did admin activities on that day. That is, the number of active admins each day. The number of unique admins who did any activity within a given week or month will be different, and not equal to the sum of the days. I produced the monthly and weekly stats before to give a rough idea. The number of x per admin uses this daily figure. The actions column is the number of actions in that day (and broken down in further columns). That is: delete, restore, protect, unprotect, block, unblock. The weekly or monthly total for this figure can be produced by summing the days. Jim182 18:23, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, and thank you again for clarifying : ) - This is interesting information. Perhaps you should offer a link at WP:RFA, for those who may be interested. Thanks again : ) - jc37 18:41, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Admin activity data

[edit]

Thanks for the data at User talk:Jim182/adminstats2! Based on that data, I created four charts. See Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_adminship#Charts_on_admin_activity. --Durin 20:36, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
