Spamming seasalt.com
[edit]Hello, I'm Jytdog. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message here, or take a look at our external link guidelines and reliable sourcing guidelines about links. Thank you. Sourcing
[edit]I realize a lot of people find all kinds of commercial websites and blogs to be useful but Wikipedia aims for high quality, scholarly content. To get there, we use high quality sources. You are a student and your school has a library - please speak with the reference librarian there about scholarly sources about himalayan salt. This kind of stuff is not OK:
- http://www.naturallivingideas.com/himalayan-pink-salt-lamp-benefits/
- http://www.healthline.com/nutrition/pink-himalayan-salt#section4
- https://draxe.com/pink-himalayan-salt/
- http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/315081.php#Suggested%20health%20benefits%20of%20pink%20Himalayan%20salt
- http://healthwyze.org/reports/115-the-truth-about-table-salt-and-the-chemical-industry
- http://blog.paleohacks.com/himalayan-salt/#
For content about health, we follow WP:MEDRS - see note below about that. Jytdog (talk) 00:07, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
References
[edit]Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN. We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note. Jytdog (talk) 00:07, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
Notice of discretionary sanctions
[edit]Please carefully read this information:
The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding Complementary and Alternative Medicine, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.
Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.Jytdog (talk) 18:28, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
Editing medical topics
[edit]Hi Jhread. I noticed that you have run into some problems on the Himalayan salt article. I also noticed that you have not completed any of the assigned training modules on the Dashboard. Please visit your course page on the Dashboard and complete all of the assigned training modules. In addition, it is extremely important that you completed the training module on Editing Medical Topics before you contribute any health-related content.
As a general rule, you need to ensure that you are using the highest-quality sources when contributing to Wikipedia - preferably scholarly, peer-reviewed sources. When writing about medical topics the requirements are even more specific - you need to rely on recent review articles. Adding material from marketing sites like "paleohacks.com" or "superlife.com" is never acceptable. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:08, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
