Slavery in ancient Rome
[edit]I'm puzzled by this request for a citation, since two high-quality sources were given at the end of the sentence. Someone else has provided a third (this is indeed a standard dodge between masters and trusted slaves, particularly those who might expect to be manumitted someday), but their edit has affected the point somewhat.
