Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Illinois race car drivers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 15:07, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of List of illinois race car drivers
[edit]An article that you have been involved in editing, List of illinois race car drivers, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of illinois race car drivers. Thank you. - Do not take this nomination as a personal insult. I am actually extremely impressed with your work and your broad racing knowledge, which is as diverse as my own. I feel that a category is a better way to deal with it, as I have indicated in the deletion discussion. Having a category will allow any notable driver from any series to be added, which I believe is the best result. Royalbroil 02:12, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- I am quite satified with the compromise about expanding the scope as Racing in Illinois. I should write an article about Racing in Wisconsin. Would you permit the List of illinois race car drivers article to be speedy deleted since it's no longer needed? If so, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the article and it will be deleted. Then the AfD about it can be closed. Royalbroil 20:13, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry if I caused you an edit conflict on the article. Let me know when you're done with developing the article, and I'll do some formating/wikification on it. Royalbroil 20:21, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- I happened to notice your speedy deletion nomination of the article on my watchlist, so I speedy deleted it. I'll note it on the AfD discussion so it can be closed. Royalbroil 20:28, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

- I got your email. Email isn't a very effective way to contact me. I'm not clear about which pictures you want deleted. Would you like all 3 of these images speedy deleted? They will get deleted in less than a week if you don't do anything. Royalbroil 20:04, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- I received your reply on my talk page, so I deleted these 3 images. You asked about your user page. I think that most Wikipedians would consider it to be too elaborate. It's okay to mention some of the things that you did/experiences, but you put down a lot. I think it would be cool to see on a website or a blog. I do find it interesting. Please stop uploading copyright violations
[edit]Please do not upload the work of others as your own, as you have just done so with the cover of a video game. The images will be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and continuing to disrespect copyright law and our own policies will lead to you being blocked from editing. J Milburn (talk) 22:46, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- The last three? All the images you've uploaded are copyright violations, aren't they? Give me one reason why I shouldn't delete them all. J Milburn (talk) 22:54, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- What an insightful reply. Well, on the off chance you've only stolen some of the images you've uploaded, because I can't be bothered and because I have college tomorrow, I am not going to delete your uploads at this point. Note that incivility will get you blocked even quicker than ignoring copyright. I would stem both of them if I were you. J Milburn (talk) 23:11, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Deleting all of your articles
[edit]Please calm down. I'm not going to tell you how to delete all of the articles that you wrote. They are all good quality and they belong here. I would probably want to rewrite most of what you did if you had them deleted. Remember, I'm an admin, so I can undelete what you wrote to improve an article that you had deleted out of spite. If you've uploaded images improperly, then fuss up, have them all deleted (or their license modified to fair use), and things will settle down as long as you learn from your mistakes and don't do it again.
If you are frustrated with how things are going, then talk with me about the problems and I'll work with you to attempt to solve them. If you are frustrated to the point of leaving, then leave without deleting them. I hope that you don't leave. Your article on Racing in Illinois is very good. Royalbroil 02:06, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Fair use needs to be applied to video game covers as well as album covers. It is not okay for you to claim Public Domain on those images. You can only claim Public Domain on images that you took yourself. Not pictures taken from other websites or even by a friend. Please go through all of your images immediately and change them to fair use if you uploaded a video game cover (even if you photographed it or scanned it in yourself). I don't mess with fair use myself because it's a huge mess. Royalbroil 19:56, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

- I deleted all of your images per your request while you were posting this message. I hope that I didn't delete anything that you wanted to keep. I can undelete any of my errors if you want. I did enjoy your class 11 buggy images. It brought back images of my first time pitting. I pitted once for a SODA buggy at Road America in the 1990s. Royalbroil 20:44, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- I speedy deleted the images because you were the only author of them. As far as the articles, I made sure that they are not eligible for speedy deletion by editing each of them so that you were not the only author. The only option for getting them deleted is to have them nominated for deletion with a full discussion at WP:AFD which will take several days. I will fight hard against their deletion, and I certainly will not nominate them. You have to nominate them yourself if you want them to be deleted. Odds are they will be kept. They are too good to delete. The Racing in Illinois has already survived AFD, so that article is almost certain to be kept. Royalbroil 20:54, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- If your still so upset, exercise your Right to vanish instead of going out with a bright flame. You agreed to a GDFL copyright on the text when you started editing. There's no reason that you need to be a contributor here if your editing experience was so bad. You can still be a consumer (like +99% of people are), there's no charge to view. You can always come back if you want. You might want to blank your userpage before leaving so that this account is not identified with you for someone searching in the future. Royalbroil 21:18, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Some flack is part of life. You fell for the same common images mistake that many contributors have. It's not a huge deal if you don't worry about it and if you learned from it. Don't you think that I've taken some flack here? I took a WP:WIKIBREAK and thought about it. Royalbroil 23:28, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Please don't overreact
[edit]I'm sorry if I snapped at you, it was at the end of a long day. I felt that it was a little dubious to trust that your other images were your own work- when I started looking into it, I realised they were. Please don't leave the project, your contributions are welcome and appreciated. The images can still be restored if you decide that you want them, or that the project can continue to use them. Again, I'm sorry, I realised I had overreacted but assumed that you'd just ignore my outburst. J Milburn (talk) 18:58, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- Don't you dare call me a child. You don't know who I am, I don't know who you are, and we have the decency on Wikipedia not to judge people by who they are or what they do in real life. The threats of a block were completely valid, and standard procedure when people choose to ignore our policies. Furthermore, if you think that my accusations were 'baseless', you really need to buy yourself a dictionary. If you're going, go, I'm sure we both have better things to do than have this conversation. J Milburn (talk) 20:10, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
My reply:

As far as being a child, your user page states that your birth date as being in 1990. This is the year 2008. With a little math, that comes out to 18 years.....BUT......when you factor in the exact date (I won't post it here for legal reasons), that puts you at 17, NOT considered an adult in the US, therefore a child in the eyes of the law. Besides that, where EXACTLY did I say you were a child? Sounds to me as if someone was assuming again. You do know what happens when someone assumes?
Why would you assume that I would ignore hurtful and threatening remarks such as those made by you? I saw it as a personal attack on my character, which, according to your own statements, is against wikipedia rules.
By the way, what is a long day for you? 8 hours in class? 8 hours, 1 minute? You know nothing of long days. Try 6 weeks of 22-hour days hauling grain from an elevator to a terminal. Then you get back to the regular grind of anywhere from 12 to 18 hour days. Those are long days. Anything else is just an inconvenience.
What say you now? JG Race 1194 17:19, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
